An LED device comprises a substrate and a stack of layers defining an LED component and including an electroluminescent layer. A capacitive structure is formed on top of the stack of layers. The area of the defined capacitor encodes information concerning the electrical characteristics of the LED component.

LED device, LED driver, and driving method

A power supplying device is provided for providing electrical power to a power receiving device, the power supplying device comprising two plates, two electrode structures being arranged to be coupled to an AC power source and at least one power transmitter. Each electrode structure is attached to one of said two plates. The power transmitter is situated in between the two plates and comprises an electrically conductive coil and at least two electrical contacts coupled to the electrically conductive coil. The plates and the power transmitter are arranged such that the power transmitter is movable in a direction parallel to the surfaces of the plates with the electrical contacts in contact with the respective two electrode structures for obtaining power from the AC power source.

Inductive power supply system

The present invention relates to an electroluminescent device () with a light-emitting element () having a capacitance, a switchable current source () being connected to the light-emitting element for providing a driving current to the light-emitting element, and a short detection circuit () for detecting a short in the light-emitting element. The short detection circuit comprises a triggerable voltage determining unit () for determining, upon being triggered, a voltage across the light-emitting element, a triggering unit () for triggering the triggerable voltage determining unit to determine the voltage across the light-emitting element after a time period (At) during which the driving current is not provided to the light-emitting element, and a short detection unit () for detecting a short in the light-emitting element based on the determined voltage across the light-emitting element. Therewith, the detection can be less sensitive with respect to production tolerances and the like.

Electroluminescent device with short detection circuit

The invention relates to supervision circuits () for supervising organic light emitting diode devices () via detection circuits () for detecting failure states of the organic light emitting diode devices () and for generating decision signals in response to detected failure states of the organic light emitting diode devices (), which detected failure states have durations equal to or larger than time intervals. In response to the decision signals, the organic light emitting diode devices () can be bypassed and deactivated through switching circuits () such as bi-stable circuits. The failure states may include that the organic light emitting diode devices () have a relatively low impedance or 'short' and a relatively high impedance or 'open'. The supervision circuit () further prevents the organic light emitting diode devices () from being bypassed unjustly. The supervision circuits () may be autonomous circuits that only receive power via the organic light emitting diode devices () and may be automatic circuits that automatically reset themselves after turn-off.

The invention relates to a light apparatus () for generating light. The light apparatus includes a light emission structure () including light emission material (), a capacitor structure () including at least two capacitor electrode films () and a dielectric film () between the capacitor electrode films, and a film encapsulation () including at least one film for encapsulating and thereby protecting at least the light emission material. The capacitor structure is integrated in the light apparatus such that the capacitor electrode films and the dielectric film are at least partly arranged in parallel to the light emission structure. Since films, in particular, thin films, are used for the capacitor structure and the encapsulation and since the capacitor structure is integrated in the light apparatus, the light apparatus can be relatively thin.

Light apparatus for generating light

The invention relates to an electroluminescent lighting device, which is based on an array of standard electroluminescent tiles (D-D) combined with an array of ballast components (R-R) mounted on a carrier board () in such a way that the power loss is evenly spread across the whole board area to minimize local electric power in the ballast components. The unavoidable remaining hot spots and electroluminescent tiles are thermally coupled in such a way that the additional thermal load on the electroluminescent emission layer is as symmetric as possible with respect to the self heating of the electroluminescent device. This can be achieved by a combination of properly designed heat spreading and thermal isolation of the electroluminescent and ballast components. Heat spreading is achieved by a properly designed interconnection structure () on the carrier board. Different options are proposed to thermally isolate the electroluminescent tiles from the hot spots.

Segmented electroluminescent device with distributed load elements

A power supply circuit for providing an output voltage that is higher than an input voltage. The power supply circuit is comprised of a bridge circuit and a resonant circuit, and is coupleable to a power source and a load circuit. The power supply circuit provides a boost function for stepping up an input voltage in order to reduce the required number of battery cells in order to power a load, such as a series of LEDs.

A supply circuit includes: a bridge circuit, one or more resonant circuits coupled to the bridge circuit, each of the one or more resonant circuits being coupleable to a corresponding load circuit among one or more load circuits each of which includes one or more loads; one or more supply switching units, each of the one or more supply switching units being associated with a corresponding one of the one or more resonant circuits and being coupled between the bridge circuit and an associated one of the one or more load circuits for connecting and disconnecting the associated load circuit from the bridge circuit; and a control unit for controlling each of the one or more supply switching units in synchronization with a resonant current of the resonant circuit associated with the supply switching unit.

The invention relates to a current determination apparatus for determining an operational driving current for driving a light source of a group of light sources. A same color shift function defining a light color shift depending on a driving current can be provided for all light sources of the group. An operational driving current is determined based on the color shift function such that the light color () of the light source of the group of light sources is shifted from a nominal color, which may be specific for each light source, to a light color () within a target color window (). Since for the different light sources the same color shift function can be used, a determination of individual operational driving currents such that the light sources of the group emit light having substantially the same color can be simplified.

Current determination apparatus

The present invention relates to a method for adjusting a color point () of light emitted () from an organic light emitting diode OLED () by using current () with a modulated waveform for driving the OLED (), wherein the waveform is characterized by at least three different parameters, and wherein the color point () is located in a color space, the method comprising: &#x2014;defining a color point target (); &#x2014;adjusting simultaneously the at least three parameters to tune the waveform such that the resulting light output of the OLED () is lying within a predefined area around the color point target and for which the brightness of the OLED () remains at a predefined level; and &#x2014;employing the tuned waveform to provide the current () with the modulated waveform to the OLED ().

Method for adjusting a color point of light emitted from an organic light emitting diode OLED

A power supplying device () is provided for providing electrical power to a power receiving device (), the power supplying device () comprising two plates (), two electrode structures () being arranged to be coupled to an AC power source () and at least one power transmitter (). Each electrode structure () is attached to one of said two plates (). The power transmitter () is situated in between the two plates () and comprises an electrically conductive coil () and at least two electrical contacts () coupled to the electrically conductive coil (). The plates () and the power transmitter () are arranged such that the power transmitter () is movable in a direction parallel to the surfaces of the plates () with the electrical contacts () in contact with the respective two electrode structures () for obtaining power from the AC power source ().

An OLED device comprised of: an OLED means for generating light, two or more conductive elements adapted for conducting current, a first substrate for mounting the OLED means and the two or more conductive elements, wherein the substrate has a first surface and a second surface, wherein the OLED means is in contact with the first surface and the two or more conductive elements are mounted to the second surface.

OLED device and an electronic circuit

Organic light emitting diode driver arrangement

The invention relates to a lighting device including a plurality of light emitting tiles. Each light emitting tile has at least one interface, which is adapted for signal transmission. By adding a connection element in between two neighboring interfaces of two neighboring light emitting tiles, the two light emitting tiles are connected in a daisy chain bus system. The daisy chain bus system is adapted for transmitting signals, the signals being indicative of power and/or color of each light emitting tile.
