An implantable device for delivery of a macromolecular drug compound is provided. The device comprises a core having an outer surface and a membrane layer positioned adjacent to the outer surface of the core. The core comprises a core polymer matrix within which is dispersed a drug compound having a molecular weight of about 0.5 kDa or more, the polymer matrix containing a hydrophobic polymer. Further, the membrane layer comprises a plurality of water-soluble particles distributed within a membrane polymer matrix containing an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, wherein the water-soluble particles have a D50 particle size of about 150 micrometers or less and contain a non-polymeric, hydroxy-functional compound.

Implantable device for sustained release of a macromolecular drug compound

A polymer composition that can be used to form a melt-extruded film is provided. The polymer composition may contain an olefinic polymer and a transition metal salt. By selectively controlling specific aspects of the polymer and the transition metal salt, as well as the relative concentration of each component, the present inventors have discovered that the resulting composition can exhibit a relatively fast oxidation rate, which has been found to improve the adhesion of the composition to a wide variety of substrates.

Polymer composition for forming a melt-extruded film and composites thereof

A medical tube that contains a polymer composition that is generally flexible and biocompatible is provided. The polymer composition contains at least one ethylene vinyl acetate polymer and at least one viscoelastic additive. By selectively controlling specific aspects of the ethylene vinyl acetate polymer (e.g., vinyl acetate content, melt flow index, density, etc.), the viscoelastic additive, and the manner in which they are blended, the resulting composition can exhibit a reduced tendency to kink when formed into the medical tube.

An oil resistant polymer composition is disclosed that contains a thermoplastic elastomer combined with an olefin and vinyl acetate copolymer on an oleophobic agent. In one embodiment, the composition contains a thermoplastic polyester elastomer combined with an ethylene and vinyl acetate copolymer. In order to render the polymer composition oil resistant, the polymer composition can further contain an UHMW silicone, a fluoropolymer, and optionally a crosslinking agent and/or an antiplasticizer.
