The embodiments herein relate to a method in a user equipment () for communicating with a base station () in a communications network (). The user equipment () is configured to communicate with the base station () according to a selectable of at least two user equipment categories. The user equipment () selects one of the at least two user equipment categories if information indicating the one of the user equipment categories is received from the base station (). The user equipment () selects a default of the user equipment categories if no information indicating which of the user equipment categories is received from the base station (). The user equipment () determines a soft buffer size according to the selected user equipment category. The user equipment () communicates with the base station () according to the selected user equipment category and applying the determined soft buffer size.

Method and device for communication in a communications network

Methods are disclosed which can be performed by a network node for sending to a wireless device a first synchronization signal and an associated information message, for synchronization of the wireless device with the network node. The network node and the wireless device operate in a wireless communications network. The network node sends the first synchronization signal in N OFDM symbols within a subframe, at least once in a time and frequency position in every one of the N OFDM symbols. N is equal or larger than 2. For each sending of the first synchronization signal, the network node sends an associated information message at a pre-defined time and frequency position in an OFDM symbol. The pre-defined time and frequency position is relative to the time and frequency position of the first synchronization signal. The associated information message is associated with the first synchronization signal.

Accessing a cell utilizing a multiple beam network

A system and method for determining a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) power control parameter h(n,n) for two Carrier Aggregated (CA) PUCCH formats—PUCCH format 3 and channel selection. The value of h(n,n) may be based on only a linear function of nfor both of the CA PUCCH formats. Based on the CA PUCCH format configured for the User Equipment (UE), the e-Node B (eNB) may instruct the UE to select or apply a specific linear function of nas a value for the power control parameter h(n,n), so as to enable the UE to more accurately establish transmit power of its PUCCH signal. Values for another PUCCH power control parameter—Δ(F)—are also provided for use with PUCCH format 3. A new offset parameter may be signaled for each PUCCH format that has transmit diversity configured.

Power control for ACK/NACK formats with carrier aggregation

A system and method to instruct a user equipment (UE) how Uplink Control Information (UCI) on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) should be transmitted with carrier aggregation. A semi-static signaling of a UCI mapping bit (via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) parameter) is used by a base station such as an eNodeB to require the UE to transmit UCI using one of two pre-determined UCI transmission modes. The bit can be decided by the base station, considering, for example, the available bandwidth or quality of different Uplink Component Carriers (UL CCs) associated with the UE. This network-based solution allows the network to either configure a general rule of UCI transmission by the UE or to enforce the UCI transmission on the Uplink Primary cell (UL Pcell). Because of the rules governing abstracts, this abstract should not be used to construe the claims.

Uplink control information (UCI) mapping indicator for long term evolution (LTE) carrier aggregation

Power headroom reporting and report handling are discussed in the context of a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH), on which a user equipment (UE) has no valid uplink grant, and a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) on which a UE has no transmission. Under these circumstances, it is not possible to directly calculate one or more parameters which are used to calculate power headroom. Accordingly, exemplary embodiments provide for predetermined, known values to be used by the UE to calculate the power headroom, and by the eNodeB to understand the meaning of a received power headroom report.

Power headroom reporting for carrier aggregation

Embodiments herein include a method in a user equipment (UE) for transmitting uplink control information in time slots of a subframe over a radio channel to a radio base station. The uplink control information is comprised in a block of bits. The UE maps the block of bits to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE block spreads the sequence across Discrete Fourier Transform Spread-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFTS-OFDM) symbols. This is performed by applying a spreading sequence to the sequence of complex valued modulation symbols, to achieve a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE further transforms the block-spread sequence, per DFTS-OFDM symbol. This is performed by applying a matrix that depends on a DFTS-OFDM symbol index and/or slot index to the block-spread sequence. The UE also transmits the block spread sequence, as transformed, over the radio channel to the radio base station.

The present invention relates to methods and arrangements that make it possible to control the delay for the UEs to access the EUL resources in the Enhanced Uplink in CELL_FACH state procedure, independently from the delay for the UEs to access ordinary UL resources in the RACH procedure. This is achieved by a solution where the timing of entering (or re-entering) a transmission procedure for Enhanced Uplink in CELL_FACH state is controlled with the help of a transmission control parameter defined specifically for this transmission procedure, instead of using the same parameter as for the RACH procedure.

A user equipment and a method for identifying a resource to use for a transmission of control information on a physical uplink control channel, PUCCH, format 3 involve receiving a resource index from a serving radio base station, and identifying the resource to use for the transmission of the control information in a subframe based on the received resource index, wherein the identified resource is within a same confined set of physical resource blocks regardless of if a normal or a shortened PUCCH format 3 is used in the subframe.

Arrangement and method for identifying PUCCH format 3 resources

A communication system includes a transmitting communication device and a receiving communication device. The transmitting communication device determines a control element, e.g., a control element of a Media Access Control protocol, associated with one of the carriers and provides the control element with an identifier specifying the carrier the control element is associated with. The transmitting communication device sends the control element with the identifier on one of the carriers to the receiving communication device. The receiving communication device receives the control element and determines, from the identifier received with the control element, the carrier the control element is associated with. Further, the receiving communication device determines, on the basis of parameters indicated by the control element, a data transmission property of the carrier the control element is associated with.
