Connecting plug for cables

An optical plug connector () having a base body () extending in a longitudinal direction (x) with a front end () having a first opening to receive a ferrule () protruding above the front end () of the base body () and a rear end () having a second opening to receive an optical cable. An articulated locking arm () is formed on the front end () of the base body () and protrudes obliquely toward the rear. A cap () is arranged at the base body () in front of the articulated locking arm () and pivotable about a hinge axis () of a hinge () to protect the ferrule () in a closed position and release the ferrule () in an open position. The cap () is arranged above the ferrule () and in front of the locking arm () in a transversal direction (y).
