The invention relates to novel aryl and heteroaryl sulfonates of formula (Ia) and to methods for producing them and to novel aryl and heteroaryl sulfonates of formula (I) for treating and/or preventing diseases, especially for treating pain and neurodegenerative diseases, A representing (C-C)-aryl or 5-10-membered heteroaryl, D representing (C-C)-arylene or 5-10-membered heteroarylene, Rrepresenting (C-C)-alkyl, (C-C)-alkyl, the carbon chain being interrupted by one or two heteroatoms or groups chosen from the following group: &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;S&#x2014;, &#x2014;SO&#x2014; and &#x2014;SO&#x2014;, (C-C)-alkenyl or (C-C)-alkinyl, in formula (Ia); and Rrepresenting (C-C)-alkyl, (C-C)-alkyl, the carbon chain being interrupted by one or two heteroatoms or groups chosen from the following group: &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;S&#x2014;,&#x2014;SO&#x2014; and &#x2014;SO&#x2014;, (C-C)-alkenyl or (C-C)-alkinyl.

Cycloalkano-indole and -azaindole derivatives are prepared by reaction of appropriately substituted carboxylic acids with amines. The cycloalkano-indole and -azaindole derivatives are suitable as active compounds for medicaments, preferably antiatherosclerotic medicaments.

The hetero-linked phenylglycinolamides are prepared by reaction of the corresponding hetero-linked phenylacetic acids with appropriate phenylglycinols. The hetero-linked phenylglycinolamides are suitable as active compounds in medicaments.

The heterocyclically substituted phenylglycinolamides are obtained by reaction of heterocyclically substituted phenylacetic acids with appropriate phenylglycinols. The heterocyclically substituted phenylglycinolamides are suitable as active compounds in medicaments, in particular in antiatherosclerotically active medicaments.

Cycloakano-indole and -azaindole derivatives are prepared by reaction of appropriately substituted carbonylic acids with amines. The cycloalkano-indole and -azaindole derivatives are suitable as active compounds for medicaments, preferably antiatherosclerotic medicaments.

The indolyl-substituted phenylacetic acid derivatives are prepared by reacting the corresponding phenylacetic acids with the required amines. The indolyl-substituted phenylacetic acid derivatives are suitable as active compounds in medicaments, in particular in antiarteriosclerotic medicaments.

The bicyclic heterocyclic compounds are prepared by reaction of correspondingly substituted carboxylic acids with amines, in particular with phenylglycinolamine. The bicyclic heterocyclic compounds according to the invention are suitable as active compounds in medicaments, in particular in medicaments having an antiatherosclerotic action.

The new arylacetamides are obtained by first converting appropriately substituted arylacetic acids into the acetyl chlorides and then converting these into the amides using the appropriate amines. The new arylacetamides can be used as active compounds in medicaments, in particular in antiatherosclerotic medicaments.

The pyrimido[1,2-a]indoles according to the invention are prepared by reacting appropriately substituted phenylacetic acid derivatives with phenylglycinols. The pyrimido[1,2-a]indoles can be used as active compounds in medicaments, in particular in medicaments with antiatherosclerotic activity.
