When arrangements with a repeating working cycle such as, for example, in the case of engine test benches, are being controlled, resonances which have to be damped by the control system are often excited by the test specimen (for example an internal combustion engine) in the working range of the arrangement. The invention proposes for this purpose a control concept in which a modified actual value ris determined from a current actual value rof the control system and from a predicted imminent system-delay-free actual value on the basis of the actual value of a previous working cycle, and said modified actual value ris fed to the control system.

Method and control arrangement for controlling a controlled system with a repeating working cycle

A test stand arrangement includes at least one electric motor () connected to a test specimen for driving and/or loading the test specimen, and a control arrangement for the or each electric motor. In order to be able to create the connection of the drive train and vehicle simulation with the real, vehicle-specific combustion and dynamic behavior of the engine, at least one model for a multi-mass flywheel is implemented in the control arrangement, from which model at least a part of the control requirement for the or each electric motor is calculated and which model contains at least the two masses of the primary and secondary side of the multi-mass flywheel and a substitute model for the or each bow spring, and an algorithm is implemented in the control arrangement that analyzes the model for a multi-mass flywheel by means of an integrated time step method.

A test stand assembly includes an electric machine () for driving and/or loading a test object (), which is connected by a connecting shaft () having an adapter flange () to the electric machine (). The assembly has a constant, predetermined moment of inertia, and the mass and the moment of inertia of the adapter flange () are selected in such a manner that the resonant frequency of the system formed of test object (), adapter flange (), connecting flange (), and electric machine () for driving and/or loading the test object () lies between the idle frequency and the partial load frequency of the test object ().

The invention relates to an invention combustion engine comprising a cylinder head () with at least one inlet port () and at least one injection device () per cylinder (), which extends into the combustion chamber. In order to reduce wear of the injection device while preventing depositions in the region of the injector pocket, the top wall () of the combustion chamber is provided with an injector pocket () in the area of the mouth () of the injection device (). Preferably, at least one scavenging duct arrangement () extends into the injector pocket ().

Internal combustion engine

A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine wherein intake openings to the cylinder are partly surrounded by a mask formed by a material projection of the top face of the combustion chamber, a contour of the mask having a flat main section of maximum height between an ascending and descending flank and being asymmetrical in a developed view.

The invention relates to a method of operating a direct injection internal combustion engine operated on both spark-ignitable and autoignitable fuel, more specifically on gasoline, wherein the operational range of the engine is allocated autoignition ranges and spark-ignition ranges, an at least nearly homogeneous fuel-air mixture being produced in the combustion chamber in autoignition ranges, a high compression ratio suitable for spontaneous ignition of the fuel being provided and the combustion in the autoignition range being mostly initiated by spontaneous ignition, and wherein, in the ranges of spark ignition, combustion is initiated by spark ignition of said air-fuel mixture and a spark ignition range is assigned to the full load range and an autoignition range assigned to at least part of the part load range and wherein the effective compression ratio is lowered in spark ignition ranges and combustion controlled by regulating the residual gas content in the ranges of spontaneous ignition. In order to improve the exhaust emission quality while keeping efficiency high, the operational range of the engine is allocated two-stroke and four-stroke operational ranges and the internal combustion engine is operated on a two-stroke cycle in the ranges operating in the two-stroke mode and on a four-stroke cycle in the ranges operating in the four-stroke mode.
