The present invention shows a process and device of calendering a web. The process includes drying the web and winding the web at the end of a production section. The process includes transporting the wound web to at least one off-line calender, unwinding the web and passing the web through the at least one off-line calender. Further, the process includes treating the web between drying and winding of the web in at least one on-line calendering unit. Further still, the process includes at least one on-line calendering unit includes at least one nip defined by at least one hard roller. Method and device for calendering a paper web

Roll arrangement that includes a deflection controlled roll and a counter roll. The counter roll and the deflection controlled roll are arranged to form at least one nip. The deflection controlled roll includes a rotating roll jacket, a carrier axially passing through the roll jacket, and support elements arranged between the roll jacket and the carrier. A plurality of the support elements, located at a nip side of the deflection controlled roll, are structured and controllable so that at least some of the plurality of support elements assume a position retracted from the roll jacket during a start-up operation of the deflection controlled roll. A multi-carrying-roll winder, and method for winding a material web with a multi-carrying-roll winder. The multi-carrying-roll winder comprises a first carrying roll, a second carrying roll, a loading device, and a controller. The first and second carrying rolls contact a reel upon which a material web is to be wound, such that the first carrying roll is driven to wind the material web onto the reel. An additional loading device contacts a circumference of the reel to additionally drive the reel. A controller adjusts an amount of driving power applied to the reel by each of the first carrying roll, the second carrying roll and the additional loading device.

Multi-carrying-roll winder

Web winding device for winding a material web into a winding roll. The device comprises a rotatably driven first support roller having a circumferential shell and opposed ends, the shell having an outer surface, an inner surface and further having a plurality of shell openings therethrough. A second support roller is also provided. An end face is disposed at one of the opposed ends of the first support roller and a plurality of conduits are axially disposed within the first support roller and axially extend to the end face section, at least one of the plurality of shell openings communicating with each the conduit. A winding bed area is defined by the first and the second support roller, and adapted to support the winding roll. A suction device is mounted to the end face and provides suction to a portion of the surface of the shell. The suction device is fixed relative to the rotation of said first support roller. A pressurization device may also be used to pressurize the winding bed area. The conduits are in sequential communication with the suction device as the roller rotates. A method of winding a material web into a winding roll is also provided.

Web winding device and method

Calender and method for treating a material web. The calender includes a plurality of rolls in which each roll has a rotational axis. The rotational axes of the plurality of rolls are arranged to be substantially located in a press plane, and a plurality of nips are formed between adjacent rolls. A control device is provided to selectively open and close the plurality of nips, and the rolls are arranged so that at least two opened nips are positioned between two closed nips. The method includes forming a closed nip with the top roll, forming a closed nip with the bottom roll, forming at least two open nips between closed nips, and guiding the material web through at least the closed nips.

Calender and method for treating material webs in the calender

Method and apparatus for monitoring a winding hardness of a winding roll when winding a material web. A series of marks are placed on the material web at a first location as it is wound onto the winding roll. The distance between two successive marks is detected at a second location. The detected distance of two successive marks is used to determine a stretch of the material web.

Method and a device for winding web sections into web section rolls. The device for winding web sections into web section rolls comprises a central roll and a cutting section. The web section rolls rest against the central roll in at least two winding position groups that are axially offset from one another at different positions about the circumference of the central roll. The cutting device axially extends axially over the winding position groups, and is adapted for pivoting about the central roll through the winding position groups. Process and device for winding partial webs into partial web rolls

A paper calender has a stack of rolls arranged one above the other. They form an upper stack and a lower stack with a common center roll. Additional center rolls are carried on levers that are capable of pivoting about axes fixed with respect to the frame, and are capable of being placed under load by devices applying force. These devices should be designed to be powerful enough to be capable of compensating for more than the total weight of the associated roll and the parts connected to it. As a result of the various possible settings for the line load, the finishing of the paper can be improved. A method is provided for operating a paper calender having an upper stack of rolls and a lower stack of rolls positioned below the upper stack. Each stack is individually capable of being placed under load by upper and lower force generators. The calender also includes a common center roll that is supported on a frame, and remaining center rolls carried on levers capable of pivoting about axes fixed with respect to the frame. The levers are capable of being placed under load by force applying devices to compensate for more than the total weight of the respective roll and the parts connected to it. The method includes exerting force on the upper stack independently of the force exerted on the lower stack, exerting force on each lever independently of the force exerted by the other force applying devices, and setting the load characteristic curves in the upper stack and lower stack differently.

Calender for treating both sides of a web

Reel winding roll that includes a core and an elastic surface layer positioned on the core. The roll also includes surface orifices formed on the elastic surface layer, air gathering spaces that are sealed at least in the circumferential direction, and channels arranged to couple the surface orifices to the air gathering spaces. The process includes guiding a moving web over a circumferential portion of the reel winding roll, and receiving, in the air gathering spaces, air entrained by the moving web. The entrained air is guided to the air gathering spaces through the surface orifices and the channels.
