An apparatus for stacking financial documents, in particular banknotes. The financial documents (BN) are stacked upright in a stacking area on a stacking surface, and the stacking operation is terminated when a predetermined stack length is reached. The stack formation takes place in a receiving bag () which is stationarily held by a holding frame () in the entry area of the financial documents (BN) and which forms a stock () around the circumference of the holding frame (). With increasing stack length, receiving bag material is automatically taken from the stock () so that the length of the receiving bag () continuously adapts to the length of the value note stack (). At the end of the stacking operation the receiving bag () is closed at its opening, e.g. by welding, and can subsequently be removed from the stacking area and can be used as a transport container or, respectively, a security bag.

A cash dispenser for dispensing bank notes includes a container for the secure storage, transport, and dispensing of bank notes. The cash dispenser includes a housing having a control panel and an output compartment for dispensing bank notes. The housing defines an opening for receiving a container removably positionable in the opening. The container defines a pass-through slot in a wall thereof for transferring bank notes between the container and the housing. Functional units disposed in the container include a bank note storage unit having a withdrawal device, a first bank note conveyor arranged between the bank note storage unit and the pass-through slot and a drive unit for driving the withdrawal device and the first bank note conveyor. A control unit disposed inside the container controls the functional units therein. A security mechanism invalidates banks notes stored in the container upon unauthorized manipulation of the container.
