A method of improving the release and antideposition characteristics of a hard impermeable surface. A hard impermeable surface is coated with a film of an aqueous solution. The solution is formed by combining (i) a dimer of at least two alkoxy functional silanes, (ii) an aqueous silicone emulsion of a polydiorganosiloxane, and (iii) water. The film is allowed to dry on the hard impermeable surface or the film can be wiped to dryness. The solution may also contain a water soluble hydrophilic solvent such as propylene glycol.

Silicone release agent and method

A composition in the form of an aqueous solution made by combining (i) an alkyltrialkoxysilane with C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 alkyl groups on silicon; (ii) a silane coupling agent which is an amino organofunctional trialkoxysilane or a quaternary ammonium organofunctional trialkoxysilane; (iii) a blend of petroleum and synthetic hydrocarbon waxes; and (iv) an aqueous silicone resin emulsion. The composition is used in the treatment of cellulosic and masonry surfaces to render the surface water repellent.

Water repellent organosilicon compositions

A composition which is an aqueous solution including (i) an alkyltrialkoxysilane with C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl groups on silicon; (ii) a silane coupling agent, (iii) an amino resin, and (iv) a quaternary ammonium silane. The composition is used to render surfaces water repellent.

Water repellents containing organosilicon compounds

A surface treating composition for excluding water penetration which is a solution obtained by combining water; an alkyltrialkoxysilane selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl groups on silicon and blends of alkyltrialkoxysilanes with C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl groups on silicon; a silane coupling agent; and an aqueous silicone emulsion of an anionically stabilized hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, amorphous silica and an organic tin salt.

The present invention relates to hybrid aqueous silicone-organic composition which are prepared by first forming a silicone oil-in-water emulsion by dispersing an oil phase, containing a silicone polymer and a specific non-ionic surfactant, in a water phase containing a poly(vinyl alcohol) dissolved in water. This silicone emulsion is subsequently mixed with a an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer to form the instant compositions which can be applied to substrates to provide coatings having heat resistance comparable to conventional all-silicone systems delivered from organic solvent solution.

Aqueous siliocone-organic hybrids

There are disclosed solventless silicone coating compositions comprising a homogeneous mixture of (A) a liquid silicone resin reaction product prepared by hydrolyzing an equilibrated mixture of (i) a first silane and (ii) a first diorganopolysiloxane, (B) a second silane and (C) a second diorganopolysiloxane. The compositions find utility as protective coatings, particularly in corrosion resistant high temperature paint applications. Coatings having excellent humidity resistance are formed when the compositions of the present invention are further modified with a minor portion of an amine-functional polydimethylsiloxane.

Solventless silicone coating composition

Silicone-in-water emulsions are prepared wherein the silicone phase as bi-modal and contains at least 25 percent volatile silicone and at least 1 percent high viscosity silicone fluid. The silicone emulsions are particularly useful in skin care compositions. The silicone-in-water emulsions are prepared by a process which is useful to emulsify any high viscosity silicone or mixture of silicones having a viscosity of less than 50 pascal-seconds. The process involves the formation of a rough emulsion followed by the use of low shear, preferably at about room temperature to form a stable emulsion.

Aqueous, organic polymer compositions, such as urethane- or acrylic-based coating compositions, can be improved with respect to strength, adhesion, anticorrosion and/or hardness by mixing them with certain aqueous, silicon compound emulsion compositions. For example, silicone resin emulsions provide improved corrosion resistance for urethane coating compositions. The aqueous, silicon compound emulsion composition comprises a primary, a secondary and a tertiary surfactant.

Water-based silicone-organic polymer compositions and method therefor

Oil-in-water emulsions are provided by a process which involves the mixing of the oil and water in the presence of three nonionic surfactants having certain HLB values. The process is particularly useful for emulsifying an oil having a viscosity exceeding 50,000 centipoise (50 pascal-seconds). Any oil can be emulsified by this process, including hydrocarbon oils like mineral oil and petrolatum, and silicones, including fluids, gums and resins. A particularly useful emulsion prepared by this process is an emulsion of a bi-modal silicone which contains substantial amounts of a volatile silicone and a silicone gum.

Oil-in-water emulsion

A composition which provides excellent corrosion protection to metals, particularly ferrous metals which are to be exposed to moisture and/or salt, is disclosed. The composition comprises (I) a reaction product (or blend) of a resinous copolymeric siloxane solution with a liquid organohydrogenpolysiloxane, (II) a hydroxy-functional diorganopolysiloxane and (III) an organosilane. The composition may be cured on metal surfaces, either at room temperature or at elevated temperature, to provide a strongly adhering corrosion protective coating.

Curable silicone composition for corrosion protection

This invention relates to silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives having improved viscosity stability, film physical property stability upon aging and lap shear stability (hold time) made by a method comprising the condensation of a benzene-soluble resin copolymer of 0.6 to 0.9 triorganosiloxy units per SiO.sub.4/2 unit which contains silicon-bonded hydroxyl radicals and a polydiorganosiloxane preferably containing silicon-bonded hydroxyl or other hydrolyzable endblocking radicals with a sufficient amount of an ammonia releasing endblocking agent containing endblocking triorganosilyl units such as hexamethyldisilazane to result in a 1:0.8 to 1:3 mole ratio of silicon-bonded hydroxyl radicals and hydrolyzable endblocking radicals to total moles of triorganosilyl units provided by the endblocking agent. The condensation is conducted with heating at 80.degree. C.-160.degree. C. in the presence of 0.5 to 10 moles of water per mole of .dbd.NH present in the endblocking agent and, when necessary, in the presence of an effective amount of an organic solvent such as xylene. Condensation is preferably conducted under solvent reflux conditions. When the condensation reaction is substantially complete, the remaining endblocking agent, water and ammonia released by the endblocking agent is stripped from the composition.
