Method and apparatus for efficient positioning

Methods and apparatuses relating to wireless communication

An apparatus may include circuitry configured for providing first data indicative of a first relative angle-of-arrival measurement between a first base station and a second base station, from the position of a user device, based on angle-of-arrival measurements. The apparatus may also include circuitry configured for providing second data indicative of first and second angle-of-departure measurements, each measurement indicative of an angle between the user device and the other base station of the first set of base stations from the position of the respective first and second base stations based on a plurality of beams transmitted from the respective base station to the user device. The apparatus may also include circuitry configured for determining a beam directionality error associated with at least one of the first and second base stations based on the first relative angle-of-arrival measurement and the first and second angle-of-departure measurements.

There are provided measures for efficient provision of positioning reference signal transmissions. Efficient provision of positioning reference signal transmissions

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, methods, apparatuses and computer readable storage media for implicit indication of positioning related information. A first device selects a reference signal (RS) sequence from a plurality of available RS sequences. Based on the selected RS sequence, the first device generates a RS for positioning and then transmits the generated RS to a second device to indicate, with the selection of the reference signal sequence, at least part of side information related to the positioning.

According to an aspect, there is provided a terminal device for performing the following. The terminal device maintains, in a memory, configurations of downlink and uplink reference signals. In response to receiving a configuration of a coupling relationship between the downlink and uplink reference signals from an access node, the terminal device stores it to the memory. The terminal device measures, in response to receiving the downlink reference signal from the access node, the downlink reference signal. The terminal device determines whether a radio channel between the terminal device and the access node meets one or more pre-defined criteria. If the one or more pre-defined criteria are not met, the terminal device determines an adjusted transmission mode for the uplink reference signal. If the adjusted transmission mode determines one or more transmission parameters, the terminal device transmits the uplink reference signal to the access node using the adjusted transmission mode.

Coupled downlink and uplink reference signals for efficient multi-RTT positioning

System and method for enhanced UE positioning using multi-source PRS

Disclosed is a method comprising obtaining a first set of measurement information associated with a reference signal transmitted from a set of positioning reference units; selecting a subset of positioning reference units from the set of positioning reference units, wherein the selection is based at least on determining that the reference signal transmitted per positioning reference unit of the subset of positioning reference units is measured by a same set of network nodes that measured a reference signal transmitted from a target user device; and refining a location estimate of the target user device based at least on a subset of measurement information from the first set of measurement information, wherein the subset of measurement information is associated with the subset of positioning reference units.

Disclosed herein are systems, methods and/or computer programs for determining time and/or angle-based measurements for use in position determination. The apparatus may comprise means for receiving, at a plurality of antennae, a reference signal associated with positioning and determining cross-correlation values comprising a cross correlation between the reference signal received at each antenna and a known reference signal associated with positioning. There may also be provided means for estimating a channel response for a reference antenna of the plurality of antennae using the cross correlation values, the known reference signal and an antenna correlation comprising a known relationship between a channel response of each antenna of the plurality of antennae and the channel response of the reference antenna, and determining a time of arrival and/or an angle of arrival of the received reference signal based on the estimated channel response for the reference antenna.
