A system provides access to previously unassociated cameras that are concurrently at different specific locations at a single event, sending the real-time video and audio stream of said cameras to a central processing entity, transcoding and serving the real-time content to consumers in a way that associates the content as different camera angles of the same event, along with additional data from each camera owner such as twitter feeds. Also disclosed is a system for providing a user, via a client device, the ability to choose a desired feed for viewing the event and the ability to change the selected feed based a number of user-selected criteria.

Approach to live multi-camera streaming of events with hand-held cameras

Methods, systems, and computer readable media are implemented by a decoder associated with a STB to facilitate intelligent monitoring, detecting and displaying simultaneous independent videos on a display. A request is initiated to display a PiP window that presents a second content stream simultaneously with a first content stream. The request includes information as to input parameters and video input characteristics for each of the first and second content streams. Currently available resources, including memory and bandwidth, are monitored and upon initiation of the PiP window request a query is executed to determine if the available resources are sufficient. If yes, allocation of available resources is carried out to simultaneously display the first and second content streams. If no, an adjustment operation is carried out that modifies at least one input parameter or video input characteristic to simultaneously display content streams in optimal formats. User preferences may be considered for viewer consistency.

Systems, devices and methods for adaptive switching in multicast media streams are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a method for adaptively transmitting content to one or more users based on currently available bandwidth via internet protocol ('IP') multicast protocol, includes: receiving a first content stream having a plurality of data packets, the first content stream encoded at a first bit rate; receiving a second content stream having a plurality of data packets, the second content stream encoded at a second bit rate, wherein the first bit rate is different than the second bit rate and wherein the first and second content streams represent the same content; transmitting the first content stream to a user; determining that the user could receive the second content stream based on available bandwidth for transmitting data to the user; and transmitting the second content stream to the user.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate the detection of a closed caption standard and corresponding extraction of closed caption data according to the detected closed caption standard. A set-top box (STB) may receive content from multiple different networks and/or service providers, and closed caption data may be formatted differently in content received from the various networks and/or service providers. The STB may identify a relevant standard with which to process closed caption data in a received content stream based upon an identification of the network and/or provider from which the content stream is received, and the STB may extract and render closed caption data using a process associated with the identified network and/or provider.

An internet protocol multicast provider is disclosed, which includes a bootstrap code component, a transcoder generator component, a content module and a packetizing module. The bootstrap code component can generate a bootstrap code. The transcoder generator component can generate a transcoder module. The content module can generate content in a first format. The packetizing module can generate internet protocol multicast packets, based on the bootstrap code, the transcoder module and the content. The bootstrap code can determine a second format for which an internet protocol multicast receiver can decode and render the content. The transcoder module can instruct the internet protocol multicast receiver to play the content when the first format is the second format. The transcoder module can instruct the internet protocol multicast receiver to transcode the content from the first format to the second format when the first format is not the second format.

System and method for delivering 3DTV content to variety of receivers

A method implemented in a computer system for inserting advertisements into an audio/video stream. The method receives the audio/video stream, and monitors it to detect an advertisement insertion notification for the audio/video stream. The advertisement insertion notification references an advertisement insertion point at a position in the audio/video stream. The method determines a disposition of the audio/video stream at the position, and examines at least one advertisement stream to identify a matching advertisement stream having an advertisement disposition that agrees with the disposition of the audio/video stream at the position. The method inserts the matching advertisement stream into the audio/video stream at the position.

Advertisement insertion

A caption formatting method and computing system that receives an input video stream that includes a sequence of input transport stream packets. The method locates user data in the sequence of input transport stream packets, where the user data includes input caption data compliant with an input caption data format. The method extracts EIA-608 captions and EIA-708 captions from the input caption data, and formats the EIA-608 captions as caption data compliant with SCTE-20 format. The method creates a sequence of output transport stream packets based on the sequence of input transport stream packets, where the sequence of output transport stream packets include the caption data compliant with SCTE-20 format and the input caption data. The method sends an output video stream from the computing device, where the output video stream includes the sequence of output transport stream packets.

System for generating closed captioning compatible with legacy and newer set-top boxes

A method of processing audio signals in which an audio signature of a primary audio stream is compared to a set of audio signatures corresponding to a series of separate audio clips is disclosed. One of the audio clips from the series of separate audio clips is selected for insertion into the primary audio stream such that the selected audio clip has an audio signature that most closely matches the audio signature of the primary audio stream. The matching and selecting steps are performed by at least one signal processing electronic device.

Method of selectively inserting an audio clip into a primary audio stream

A method and computing system for seamlessly inserting a local audio clip into a primary audio stream. The method sends the primary audio stream to an audio output port, and determines main parameters for the primary audio stream. The method receives a request to insert an encoded local audio clip, locates an insertion point in the primary audio stream that coincides with an end of a frame boundary, and identifies a best matching encoded local audio clip for the main parameters. The method receives and sends the best matching encoded local audio clip to the audio output port, stores the primary audio stream in a buffer while sending the best matching encoded local audio clip, and resumes the sending of the primary audio stream when the sending of the best matching encoded local audio clip is complete.
