A color toner image with a metallic effect can be prepared by forming one or more latent images and developing them with non-conductive metallic dry toner particles and color toner particles. The developed color toner image can be transferred to a receiver material, and fixed to provide a color toner image with a metallic effect. The non-conductive metallic dry toner particles have a polymeric binder phase and non-conductive metal oxide particles dispersed therein. Before fixing, each non-conductive metallic dry toner particle has a mean volume weighted diameter (D) of 15-40 &#x3bc;m and the non-conductive metal oxide particles are present in an amount of at least 20-50 weight %. The ratio of the non-conductive metallic dry toner particle Dto the average equivalent circular diameter (ECD) of the non-conductive metal oxide particles in the non-conductive metallic dry toner particles is greater than 0.1 and up to and including 10.

Metallic toner particles for providing metallic effect

Fluorescing highlights can be provided in selected portions of non-color image areas of a printed toner image using fused fluorescing dry toner particles, such as fused fluorescing magenta or fused fluorescing yellow dry toner particles. Before fixing, each fluorescing dry toner particle comprises a polymeric binder phase and a fluorescing colorant that emits at one or more &#x3bb;wavelengths of at least 420 nm and up to and including 690 nm and that is dispersed within the polymeric binder phase. The resulting printed color images and fluorescent highlights can be provided on receiver materials of various types to accentuate or emphasize the printed color images with a variety of light-colored fluorescent shading.

Receiver materials with color toner images and fluorescent highlights

Preparing color toner images with metallic effect

Highlighting color toner images with fluorescing toners

A method for forming a tactile printed image on a receiver medium to convey information to a visually-impaired person from image data having an array image pixels with binary pixel values. The tactile printed image by depositing tactile marking material onto the receiver medium, wherein no tactile marking material is deposited onto portions of the receiver medium corresponding to image pixels having a first state, and tactile marking material is deposited onto portions of the receiver medium corresponding to image pixels having the second state. The receiver medium has a first coefficient of friction, and the portions of the tactile printed image having deposited tactile marking material are raised by at least 20 microns relative to the surface of the receiver medium and have a second coefficient of friction which differs from the first coefficient of friction by at least 0.06.

Tactile images having coefficient of friction differences

A composite color toner image can be enhanced in a printed receiver material by having a separate fluorescing magenta toner image applied over it to provide a 'pinkish' fluorescing effect. This separate fluorescing magenta toner image is obtained using visible fluorescing dry magenta toner particles, each of which has a polymeric binder phase and a visible fluorescing colorant that emits at one or more peak wavelengths of from 510 nm and to and including 590 nm. The covering power of the fused visible fluorescing magenta toner particles in the enhanced composite color toner image is at least 350 cm/g to and including 1100 cm/g, and the covering power of each of the non-fluorescing cyan, non-fluorescing yellow, non-fluorescing magenta, and non-fluorescing black toner particles in the enhanced composite color toner image is at least 1500 cm/g to and including 2300 cm/g.

Enhanced color toner images using fluorescing magenta toners

A fluorescing dry toner particle comprises a polymeric binder phase comprising a non-fluorescing binder polymer and a polymeric fluorescing colorant dispersed within the non-fluorescing binder polymer. The polymeric fluorescing colorant comprises a fluorescing moiety that is covalently attached to a colorant polymer that is the same or different than the non-fluorescing binder polymer, but the polymeric fluorescing colorant is blendable with the non-fluorescing binder polymer to form a homogeneous polymeric binder matrix, and is present in an amount of at least 1 weight % and up to and including 40 weight %, based on the total fluorescing dry toner particle weight. These fluorescing dry toner particles can be used in various dry developers to provide fluorescing toner images with or without non-fluorescing color toner images.

Use of fluorescing toners for imaging

A composite color toner image can be enhanced by applying a separate fluorescing toner image over it to provide an enhanced color toner image having a 'pinkish' fluorescing effect. This separate fluorescing toner image is obtained using visible fluorescing dry magenta toner particles. Each of these toner particles consists essentially of a polymeric binder phase and a visible fluorescing colorant that emits at one or more peak wavelengths of at least 510 nm and up to and including 590 nm and that is dispersed within the polymeric binder phase.

Enhancing color toner images with fluorescing magenta toners

A fluorescing yellow polymeric toner particle comprises one or more non-fluorescing yellow colorants, and one or more fluorescing yellow colorants having one or more emission peak wavelengths of at least 480 nm and up to and including 600 nm. These fluorescing yellow polymeric toner particles can be used to provide multicolor toner images with increased yellow color gamut.

Fluorescing yellow toner particles and methods of use

A method for creating a scratch-off document having hidden information, the method includes providing a substrate; depositing a first layer of first toner particles on the substrate, wherein the first layer includes at least two thicknesses in which one region is thicker than the other region; depositing a second layer of toner particles on the first layer, wherein the first toner particles have a different thermal conductivity than the second toner particles; and applying heat to the first and second layers simultaneously so that the first layer adheres to the substrate in regions of the lesser thickness of the first toner particles and does not adhere in the regions of greater thickness of the first toner particles; wherein the first and second layers in the regions of greater thickness of the first toner layer can be removed thereby revealing hidden information.

Method for creating a scratch-off document

A method for producing a raised print using a three-component printer includes receiving image data and height data for an image to be printed, the height data specifying that raised printing should be produced in a non-yellow region of the image data. Separation data are determined for a yellow toner and two additional colored toners. The yellow separation data is determined based on the image data and the height data. The yellow separation and at least one of the colored separations specify that respective toners be deposited one atop the other in the non-yellow region. The two additional colored toners include respective amounts of black colorant. Using the printer with exactly three printing modules, respective toner images are deposited on the receiver, each corresponding to respective separation data. The deposited toner is fixed to the receiver.

Producing raised print using three toners

A black toner composition is disclosed. The composition includes toner particles prepared by a chemical process of manufacture including carbon black pigment, a first addition polymer comprising carboxylic acid groups along the polymer backbone, and a thermoplastic second polymer binder distinct from the first addition polymer. In the composition, the first polymer has an Acid Value of from 30 to 220 and is present at a weight ratio of greater than 1:2 relative to the amount of carbon, and at a relatively lower weight percent than the second polymer.

Methods are provided for determining toner colors to be combined to form a target color at a location on a receiver. In one aspect, a method includes determining a fluorescent toner color to be provided at the location based upon the density and hue angle of the target color; determining one or more reflective toner colors to be provided with the determined fluorescent toner color at the location to form the target color and the amount of the fluorescent toner color is decreased as the target color density increases.

A method for producing an antenna structure for an RFID device, a dry toner for use in producing an antenna for an RFID device and a RFID device comprising an antenna structure made of fused toner are disclosed. In a method for producing an antenna structure for an RFID device, a dry toner comprising a polymeric binder and metallic particles is provided. The toner comprises particles having a resistance allowing triboelectric charging or a resistance allowing inductive charging, wherein said metallic particles are nanoparticles having a mean particle size below approximately 500 nm in at least one direction. In the method, a continuous layer of the dry toner is applied to a substrate in a desired shape of an antenna via an electrophotographic printing process, and subsequently the toner is fused to the substrate by heating the toner above its glass transformation temperature. The dry toner for use in producing an antenna for an RFID device comprises toner particles having a resistance allowing triboelectric charging or a resistance allowing inductive charging. The toner particles comprise a polymeric binder and metallic particles, wherein said metallic particles are nanoparticles having a mean particle size below approximately 500 nm in at least one direction.

Method for producing an antenna structure for an RFID device, and dry toner for use in producing such antenna structure

Systems are provided for determining toner color having a processor that generates a fluorescent toner color image that when printed using a corresponding fluorescent toner will generate a diffuse fluorescent color light that reduces the extent to which noise induced variations in density in a noise evident portion of a toner print are observable. The processor further adjusts reflective toner color images used to form the toner print so that the reflective toner color images combine with the fluorescent color image to form a target color image.
