A soft and resilient, cold-water dispersible polyurethane foam suitable for disposable personal care products is produced by the combination of corn syrup, glycerin, polyether diamine, PEG, a diisocyanate, water and a catalyst. The formulation and reaction conditions for forming the inventive foam are judiciously selected and carefully controlled to achieve water dispersibility and the desired mechanical properties. The characteristic resiliency, or percent rebound for the foams was generally over 75% and the foams are readily produced as soft foams, exhibiting a relative compression value of from 20% to 150% of that of a commercial polyurethane foam cosmetic pad which is not water dispersible. The foam may be incorporated into webs or stackable products or nestable three-dimensional products.

Apparatus and process for producing foam formed fibrous web in which the furnish is made up by mixing a thin water slurry of fibers at a consistency in the range of from about 0.5 to about 7 weight percent fibers with sufficient aqueous foam containing a surfactant and having an air content in the range of from about 55 to about 80 percent by volume to form a foamed fiber furnish containing from about 0.1 to about 3 weight percent fibers which is supplied directly to the forming felt or wire of a twin wire papermaking machine, adding makeup surfactant and discarding excess aqueous foam from the process as required to maintain the desired volume of foamed liquid therein.

The present invention relates to a soft, thick, single-ply tissue and to a process for the manufacture of such tissue product having a basis weight of at least about 15 lbs./3,000 square foot ream and having low sidedness, said tissue exhibiting: a specific total tensile strength of between 40 and 75 grams per 3 inches per pound per 3000 square feet ream, a cross direction specific wet tensile strength of between 2.75 and 7.5 grams per 3 inches per pound per 3000 square feet ream, the ratio of MD tensile to CD tensile of between 1.25 and 2.75, a specific geometric mean tensile stiffness of between 0.5 and 1.2 grams per inch per percent strain per pound per 3000 square feet ream, a friction deviation of less than 0.225, and a sidedness parameter of less than 0.275.

A paper product and a method of making a paper product with a glabrous surface and adapted for use either dry or for use in a manually pre-moistened condition. The paper product having temporary wet strength exhibiting an initial normalized CD wet tensile strength of at least about 75 g/3 inch strip, preferably 105 g/3 inch strip as measured by the Finch Cup Test 5 seconds after immersion and a subsequent CD wet strength of less than 1/2 as measured 10 minutes after immersion. A temporary wet strength agent comprising uncharged chemical moieties such as aldehydes, and aldehydes containing polymers, polyols and cyclic ureas or mixtures thereof in the range of from about 2 pounds per ton to about 30 pounds per ton is added to the web. Optionally starch and a cationic nitrogenous softener/debonder is added. The starch and softener/debonder are added to assist in tailor making the desired paper product having temporary wet strength.
