In one aspect, a method includes establishing a first communication channel between a first computing device associated with a fuel dispenser user and a second computing device configured within a fuel dispenser. The method can further include receiving, by the second computing device, first data characterizing a first authorization of the fuel dispenser user of a fuel dispenser. The method also includes determining, by the second computing device, a second authorization of the fuel dispenser user based on the first data. The method further includes controlling, by the second computing device and based on the second authorization, operation of the fuel dispenser to dispense fuel. The method also includes providing, by the second computing device via the first communication channel, second data characterizing the operation of the fuel dispenser to the first computing device.
