Systems and methods of (remotely) controlling aspects of pools and spas and of modifying water contained therein are detailed. Internet-enabled access to pool and spa controllers may happen without any need for users to create firewall ports or utilize static internet protocol addresses. Certain networking devices may be configured using a USB connection or SD card, avoiding any requirement for an Ethernet cable or supplying separate power to the devices during configuration. Time-varying data may be obtained in respect of one or more installations and analyzed for various information.

Remotely controlling aspects of pools and spas

Systems and methods of (remotely) controlling aspects of pools and spas and of modifying water contained therein are detailed. Internet-enabled access to pool and spa controllers may happen without any need for users to create firewall ports or utilize static internet protocol addresses. Certain networking devices may be configured using a USB connection or SD card, avoiding any requirement for an Ethernet cable or supplying separate power to the devices during configuration. Other devices may be configured wirelessly, without need of any USB connection or SD card. Time-varying data may be obtained in respect of one or more installations and analyzed for various information.

Control boxes with segregated low- and high-voltage components are described. Service technicians (or others) requiring access to one set of components may do so without necessarily accessing the other set. Dual user interfaces may be utilized, further, with one interface being present at the control box and the other being remote therefrom.

Control boxes principally for use with equipment of swimming pools and spas

Detailed are actuators especially useful in connection with valves forming parts of water-recirculation systems of pools or spas. Transit times of components of the actuators may be measured or otherwise determined and signals sent to the actuators to cease movement of the components between boundary positions. Consequently, dynamic adjustment of the valving capabilities of the systems may be achieved.

Multi-position valve actuators

Creating and utilizing electricity and radiation via actions of hoses is detailed. Likewise described is using electricity to heat the hoses and radiation to sanitize fluid such as water of a pool or spa. Electricity may be generated by pulsation of the hoses when employed together with a water-interruption type of automatic pool cleaner, for example. Hoses alternatively or additionally may include chemicals or materials reactive to light or other radiation.

Hoses principally for automatic swimming pool cleaners

Devices and methods for inhibiting movement of automatic pool cleaners (APCs) are described. Versions of the devices may cause pool water to bypass flowing through bodies of APCs. Alternatively, they may cause water flowing though bodies of APCs to bypass the associated motive force creators. The devices thus may constitute idler mechanisms, as they effectively prevent movement without requiring operation of the ultimate driver (i.e. the pump) to cease.

Idler mechanisms for hydraulic devices

A pool/spa heater having a temperature control portion which is connectable to an external temperature regulating controller, in which the temperature control portion has at least one primary temperature limiting control switch with a first temperature setpoint, at least one secondary temperature limiting control switch with a second temperature setpoint, a third switch adapted for connection with the external temperature regulating controller, and wherein the second temperature setpoint is higher than a maximum temperature setting on the external temperature regulating controller but lower than the first temperature setpoint. The temperature control portion can further have an on/off switch.

Pool/spa heater

A method and a cooking appliance has a pyrolytic cleaning control in which multiple stages permit volatile residue to be incinerated before inducing air current flow that can complete the cleaning process throughout the oven housing. The oven combines cooking energy sources, including convection current heating and preferably, jet impingement heating, whose blowers are disabled during a first stage of pyrolytic cleaning to avoid uncontrolled ignitions within the appliance. The second stage of the pyrolytic cleaning process induces current flow to distribute pyrolytically heated air throughout the housing and complete the cleaning process in the apparatus.

Multi-stage self-cleaning control for oven

A method and apparatus for controlling a cooking apparatus operates a plurality of cooking energy sources with a control including switches that reduce the input manipulations required by a user in order to operate one or more of the cooking energy sources to complete a cooking operation. The control responds to a first selection of a particular food type from a predetermined catalog of food category listings, responds to a second selection for setting a time duration corresponding to an instructional cooking period or recipe, and operates in response to the first and second selectors for generating operating parameters for at least one first cooking source for a predetermined time and for at least one second cooking source for a second predetermined time over a time period of less than and bearing a predetermined relationship to the instructional cooking period. The cooking temperature, the particular sources actuated, the duration during which each selected source operates and the power level at which the operations occur are selected automatically to perform in a predetermined process that completes a cooking process in response to the first and second selections.
