A tethering assembly for securing a medical device includes a shaft and a wire that extends in sliding engagement within a proximal lumen, a channel, and a distal receptacle of the shaft. A retainer zone of the shaft, through which the channel extends, stops a transition segment of the wire, which extends between a proximal and a distal segment of the wire, from moving into the shaft receptacle, thereby restraining a distal-most tip of the wire from moving through a distal-most opening of the receptacle. When a projecting member of the device has entered a secure zone of the receptacle, via movement through the distal-most opening and a tapering passageway thereof, the distal-most tip of the wire, which may be spring-biased, can move distally into the passageway so that the tip blocks the projecting member from moving distally, back through the passageway.

Interventional medical systems and associated assemblies

An additive manufacturing system for producing a medical catheter or lead and a method thereof. The system including a heating cartridge defining an interior volume and at least one filament port. The system also including a heating element thermally coupled to the heating cartridge to heat the interior volume, a filament handling system to feed at least one filament through the at least one filament port, and a substrate handling system. The substrate handling system including a clamp to secure a portion of a substrate to be moved relative to the heating cartridge to apply a jacket to the substrate. In one or more embodiments, a subassembly is positioned on the substrate and has an electrode ring. The jacket printed to cover at least a portion of the subassembly and spaced apart from the electrode ring.

Additive manufacturing for medical devices

An implantable medical lead may include an electrode at a distal portion of the lead that is configured to monitor or provide therapy to a target site. The lead may include a visible indicator that is visible to the naked eye of a clinician at a medial portion of the lead that is configured to indicate when the electrodes of the lead are longitudinally and radially aligned properly to monitor or treat the target site. A clinician may insert the lead into the patient using an introducer sheath inserted to a predetermined depth into the patient and subsequently aligning the distal portion of the lead by orienting the indicator at an entry port of the introducer sheath.

Implantable medical lead indicators

An implantable medical lead comprising one or more tines configured to extend and/or retract from a lead body. The implantable medical lead includes a torque member within the implantable medical lead and configured to rotate a drive shaft within the implantable medical lead. The drive shaft is threadably engaged with an interior surface of the implantable medical lead and configured to convert the rotation into a lateral translation of the drive shaft. The one or more tines are configured such that the lateral translation of the torque member laterally translates the one or more tines. The one or more tines are each electrically connected to a conductor extending through a lumen of the implantable medical lead and electrically isolated from each other.

In some examples, a coil electrode assembly includes a coil electrode including a plurality of windings and extending from an electrode proximal end to an electrode distal end, the coil electrode defining an electrode lumen from the electrode proximal end to the electrode distal end. The coil electrode assembly further includes an insulative tube extending within the lumen of the coil electrode such that the coil electrode extends along an outer surface of the insulative tube. The coil electrode is partially embedded within the insulative tube when the insulative tube is in an expanded state to maintain a spacing between the windings.

Embedment of medical lead coil electrodes

The disclosure describes a medical electrical lead including bonding strip to bond an elongate electrode coil to an elongate lead body to reduce damage to the medical electrical lead during manipulation of the medical electrical lead. The elongate lead body extends from a proximal end to a distal end and includes a proximal portion and a distal portion. The elongate electrode coil surrounds at least part of the distal portion of the elongate lead body. The bonding strip extends axially along the elongate electrode coil and extends only partially around the circumference of the elongate electrode coil for at least part of the length of the bonding strip, where at least a portion of the bonding strip is bonded to the elongate lead body to fix a portion of the elongate electrode coil to the elongate lead body.

A tool operable with a catheter in an interventional medical system retrieves a medical device from an implant site, wherein the device includes an attachment feature that forms an annular recess to be engaged by a lasso of the tool for snaring the device, and a distal-most sidewall of the catheter defines a receptacle into which the snared device is retrieved. A guide of the tool includes a sidewall defining a lumen in which the lasso extends for deployment out from a distal opening thereof, to snare and retrieve the implanted device. The sidewall establishes a radial offset between the guide lumen distal opening and the distal-most sidewall of the catheter, when the guide lumen distal opening and a distal opening of the receptacle are located in close proximity to one another, which radial offset is greater than a length of the annular recess formed by the device attachment feature.

Interventional medical systems and retrieval tools thereof

A medical device lead is presented that includes an electrode assembly having a first electrode located near a distal end of the electrode assembly and a second electrode located near a proximal end of the electrode assembly. The electrode assembly also includes a conductive elongated coupler that is electrically coupled to the first electrode and capacitively coupled to the second electrode. At low frequencies and DC (e.g., during delivery of stimulation therapy), the capacitive coupling between the conductive elongated coupler and the second electrode presents a high impedance allowing little current to be redirected from the first electrode to the second electrode. However, at high frequencies (e.g., during an MRI scan) the capacitive coupling between the conductive elongated coupler and the second electrode presents a low impedance, resulting in a significant amount of induced current being redirected to the second electrode and dissipated into bodily fluid surrounding the second electrode.
