Compound eyes of insects are great optical system for imaging and sensing by the nature creator, which is an unsurpassed challenge due to its precision and small size. Here, we use meta-lens consisting of GaN nano-antenna to open the fascinating doorway to full-color achromatic light field imaging and sensing. A 60&#xd7;60 multi-channels meta-lens array is used for effectively capturing multi-dimensional optical information including image and depth. Based on this, the multi-dimensional light field imaging and sensing of a moving object is capable to be experimentally implemented. Our system presents a diffraction-limit resolution of 1.95 micrometer via observing the standard resolution test chart under white light illumination. This is the first mimic optical light field imaging and sensing system of insect compound eye, which has potential applications in micro robotic vision, non-men vehicle sensing, virtual and augmented reality, etc.

Metalens for light field imaging

The present invention provides an optical component comprising a dielectric layer and a nanorod array; the nanorod array is formed on a surface of the dielectric layer and extends along a lateral direction and a vertical direction. The nanorod array comprises a plurality of nanorods extending along the dielectric layer. The nanorods have a gap between one another, and an angle is defined by two adjacent nanorods. A bump is formed at each of two ends of the nanorod.

Broadband meta-optical device

In this disclosure, an optical component which comprises an array of metalenses is provided. Each metalens comprises a plurality of nanostructures and a dielectric layer and the nanostructures are disposed on the dielectric layer, and the nanostructures comprises an array of first phase compensation structures, and an array of second phase compensation structures. The array of the first phase compensation structures are disposed to surround the array of the second phase compensation structures so as to define a single metalens. The first and second phase compensation structures are complementary to each other and substantially satisfy the Babinet's principle.

Broadband achromatic metalens in the visible spectrum

A near-field optical disk having surface plasmon amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (SPASER) is provided. The near-field optical disk having SPASER includes a transparent substrate, a first transparent dielectric thin film layer formed on the transparent substrate, a SPASER thin film layer formed on the first transparent dielectric thin film layer, a second transparent dielectric thin film layer formed on the SPASER thin film layer, a recording thin film layer formed on the second transparent dielectric thin film layer, and a third transparent dielectric thin film layer formed on the recording thin film layer.

Near-field optical disk having surface plasmon amplification by stimulated emission of radiation

A near-field scanning optical microscope is disclosed. The microscope includes a lighting component, a probe and an ellipsoidal mirror. The lighting component emits a light. The probe is disposed on one side of a testing sample, and the light is focused around a probe tip to draw the near-field light out. The ellipsoidal mirror has a first focal point and a second focal point, and the first focal point and the probe tip are disposed at the corresponding positions, and the near-field light drawn out from the probe tip is scattered from the first focal point inside the ellipsoidal mirror, and reflected and passed through the second focal point.

Near-field scanning optical microscope

A near field optical disc and a near field optical disc reading apparatus are provided. The near field optical disc has at least one light source and a near field optical pick-up head, and the near field optical disc includes a light guiding substance, a first reflection layer and a second reflection layer. The light guiding substance has a first surface, a second surface opposite thereto and at least one light entrance window. Light emitted from the light source enters the light guiding substance through the light entrance window. The second reflection layer is disposed on the second surface. The first reflection layer is disposed on the first surface and has a plurality of light pervious holes. A part of the light is transmitted through the light pervious holes and picked up by the near field optical pick-up head.

Near field optical disc and near field optical disc reading apparatus

A photocatalytic reactor is disclosed herein, which includes a rotatable light guide plate and a light source. The light guide plate is coated with a photocatalyst film on a surface thereof. A light beam emitted from the light source can be coupled into and propagate inside the light guide plate to activate the photocatalysis of the photocatalyst film. Additionally, the rotation of the light guide plate further expedites the photocatalysis so as to enhance the reaction efficiency of the photocatalytic reactor.

This invention relates to a read-only near-field optical disk using a zinc-oxide (ZnO) nano-structured thin film as the localized near-field optical interaction layer. This read-only near-field optical disk is a multi-layered body at least comprising; (a) a transparent substrate with pre-recorded pits or marks; (b) a reflection thin film; (c) a zinc-oxide (ZnO) nano-structured thin film which is capable of causing localized near-field optical interactions; (d) a first and a second protective and spacer layers formed above or below the localized near-field optical interaction layer, which are also made of transparent dielectric material. Ultrahigh density near-field optical readout can be achieved by localized near-field optical interaction between the zinc-oxide (ZnO) nano-structured thin film and the reflection layer on pre-recorded structure.

Read-only optical recording medium with ZnO near-field optical interaction layer

This invention is a rewritable near-field optical medium using a zinc oxide nano-structured thin film as the localized near-field interaction layer. This rewritable near-field optical medium is a multilayered body at least comprising: (a) a substrate of transparent material; (b) a first protective and spacer layer formed on one surface of the substrate, which is made of transparent dielectric material; (c) a zinc oxide nano-structured thin film which is capable of causing localized near-field optical interactions; (d) a second protective and spacer layer formed on the localized near-field optical interaction layer, which is also made of transparent dielectric material; (e) a rewritable recording layer; (f) a third protective and spacer layer formed on the rewritable recording layer, which is also made of transparent dielectric material. Ultrahigh density near-field optical recording can be achieved by the localized near-field optical interactions of the zinc oxide nanostructured thin film that is in the near-field region of the rewritable recording layer.
