Disclosed is a method of monitoring a condition of objects in a piping system in which each object has a surface exposed to a product flowing through a pipe in the piping system. The method allows for the condition of each object to be monitored whilst the object remains in place. The method includes repeatedly measuring a resonance frequency of an oscillatory element of a vibratory device that is installed in the pipe and that exhibits a susceptibility to an impairment caused by accretion, abrasion, and/or corrosion corresponding to the respective susceptibilities of the objects. The resonance frequency of the vibratory device is reduced by accretion and increased by corrosion and by abrasion of its oscillatory element. The method further includes monitoring the condition of the objects based on the measured frequencies.

A method for monitoring a measurement variable and performing predictive monitoring of a compliancy of a characteristic of a field device to a requirement is described. The method includes a step of determining a deviation between a measured value of a monitored variable and a reference value of the monitored variable. The deviation is indicative of a degree of compliancy to the requirement. The method also includes a step of applying a filter to the deviations based on the deviations and the filtered deviations. The method further includes a step of determining a noise superimposed on the filtered deviations. At the end of a monitoring interval, a time remaining until the deviations will exceed the deviation range is determined using a Monte Carlo simulation.

The method uses a radar level gauge to measure the level of the floating roof and a level measuring device to measure the level of the medium. The method includes recording the level of the floating roof during a defined time interval that comprises some filling/emptying cycles of the medium, recording the level of the medium during said time interval, determining the deviations between the level of the medium and the corresponding level of the floating roof, centering the deviations between the level of the medium and the level of the floating roof reduced by the thickness of the floating roof with the corresponding level data, and generating an alert message when the centered deviations exceed a tolerance threshold.
