A return to neutral control mechanism for a zero turning radius mower is disclosed. The return to neutral control mechanism includes a pair of control levers pivotable between forward, neutral and reverse positions. A brake pedal is moveable between a disengaged position to an engaged position. In response to engagement of the brake pedal, a control pivot attached to each control lever moves each control lever to the neutral position. The return to neutral control mechanism may include a cam that rotates in response to engagement of the brake pedal, and a control pivot that follows the cam during engagement of the brake pedal.

An engine noise engine noise baffle for a tractor brake shaft that extends laterally through openings in an engine compartment wall. The engine noise engine noise baffle has a cup-shaped portion pressed against the interior surface of the engine compartment wall, and a sleeve portion around the tractor brake shaft. The engine noise engine noise baffle has freedom of rotation with respect to the engine compartment wall. The engine noise engine noise baffle helps block and shield the operator cab from high engine temperatures, engine noise, dirt and dust, and engine fumes.

A caster wheel locking system is provided for a walk-behind mower. The system includes a caster wheel lock on each of the front caster wheels that locks and aligns the front caster wheels in a forward direction if the traction drive bar is in the forward drive position, and unlocks the front caster wheels to allow the front caster wheels to steer freely if the traction drive bar is in the neutral position. A traction drive bar is connected to the handle and moves between a neutral position and a forward drive position in which the pair of rear wheels rotate to propel the mower forward.
