A polyisocyanurate-based coating for offshore applications is provided. The coating is a syntactic coating, obtainable by reacting a polyisocyanate compound with a compound containing isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms in the presence of a trimerisation catalyst and hollow objects, at an isocyanate index of at least and preferably more than 2000.

The invention relates to an isocyanate-containing prepolymer obtainable by reacting at least one isocyanate with at least one first compound selected from the group comprising monohydric alcohols, thiols and secondary amines; wherein the ratio of the NCO value of the isocyanate-containing prepolymer, to the OH, SH or NH value, of said monohydric alcohol, thiol or secondary amine respectively ranges from 0.0005 to 1.0000 and wherein said at least one first compound is present in a total amount of at least 40% by weight based on the total weight of the isocyanate-containing prepolymer.

Isocyanate-containing prepolymer and method for making the same

The invention relates to an isocyanate-containing prepolymer obtainable by reacting at least one isocyanate which comprises methylene diphenyl diisocyanate with at least one first compound selected from the group comprising monohydric alcohols, thiols and secondary amines and with at least one second compound selected from the group comprising monohydric alcohols, thiols and secondary amines.
