A process for cryogenic fractionation of air uses an air fractionation plant (-) comprises a rectification column system () having a high-pressure column () operated at a pressure level of 9 to 14.5 bar, a low-pressure column () operated at a pressure level of 2 to 5 bar, and an argon column (). A recirculating stream is formed using a second top gas or a portion thereof, which is heated, compressed, cooled again, and after partial or complete liquefaction or in the unliquefied state is introduced partially or completely, or in fractions, into the first rectification column () and/or into the second rectification column ().

Process for cryogenic fractionation of air, air fractionation plant and integrated system composed of at least two air fractionation plants

Described herein is a process for low-temperature separation of air, in which an air separation plant having a first rectification column and a second rectification column is used, the first rectification column being supplied with cooled compressed air and the second rectification column being supplied with liquid from the first rectification column or liquid formed herefrom. In a first condenser-evaporator, head gas from the first rectification column is condensed and liquid from the second rectification column, or liquid formed herefrom, is evaporated, thereby producing a first evaporation product.

Process and plant for low-temperature separation of air

The distillation column system has a high-pressure column, a low-pressure column, a main condenser and a low-pressure-column top condenser. Feed air is cooled in a main heat exchanger and introduced into the high-pressure column. An oxygen-enriched liquid stream is withdrawn from the high-pressure column and introduced into the low-pressure column. A gaseous nitrogen stream is withdrawn from the high-pressure column, warmed in the main heat exchanger and withdrawn as gaseous pressurized nitrogen product. The high-pressure column has a barrier-plate section arranged immediately above the point at which the feed air is introduced. The oxygen-enriched liquid stream is withdrawn from the high-pressure column above the barrier-plate section. A purge stream is withdrawn below the barrier-plate section. The gaseous nitrogen stream, before being warmed in the main heat exchanger, is warmed in a counter-current subcooler in indirect heat exchange with the oxygen-enriched liquid stream from the high-pressure column.

Method and apparatus for obtaining pressurized nitrogen by cryogenic separation of air

A method for obtaining one or more air products by means of an air separation unit comprising a first booster, a second booster, a first decompression machine, and a rectification column system which has a high-pressure column operated at a first pressure level and a low-pressure column operated at a second pressure level below the first pressure level. All of the air supplied to the rectification column system is first compressed to a third pressure level, which lies at least 3 bar above the first pressure level, as a feed air quantity. A first fraction of the feed air quantity is supplied to a first booster at the third pressure level and at a temperature level of −140 to −70° C. and is compressed to a fourth pressure level using the first booster.

A method for obtaining one or more air products, wherein an air separation system having a rectification column system is used, in which pressurized air is processed in an adjustable total air volume, wherein the total air volume is set to a first value during a first operating period and set to a second value that is different from the first value during a second operating period, and wherein the setting of the total air volume is changed from the first value to the second value in a third operating period from a first time to a second time. The second operating period is after the first operating period, the third operating period is between the first operating period and the second operating period. In the third operating period, a setting of a volume of a fluid, is changed from a third time up to a fourth time.

Method for obtaining one or more air products and air separation system

An air separation unit and associated method for separating air by cryogenic distillation using a distillation column system including a higher pressure column, a lower pressure column, an intermediate pressure kettle column, and an argon column arrangement is provided. The disclosed air separation unit and method is particularly suited for production of high purity nitrogen for electronics applications and includes nitrogen recycle circuit necessary to attain the higher purity nitrogen products. In addition to the intermediate pressure kettle column, the present air separation unit and associated method employs a once-through argon condenser, preferably disposed within the lower pressure column as well as a once-through kettle column reboiler, a once-through kettle column condenser.

Air separation unit and method for production of high purity nitrogen product using a distillation column system with an intermediate pressure kettle column

The invention relates to a method for a low-temperature air separation in which an air separation unit is used comprising a first rectification column and a second rectification column. The first rectification column is operated at a first pressure level, and the second rectification column is operated at a second pressure level below the first pressure level. Fluid which is oxygen-enriched compared to atmospheric air is drawn from the first rectification column in the form of one or more first material flows. At least one fraction of the fluid which has been drawn from the first rectification column in the form of the one or more first material flows is heated in a heat exchanger; a fraction of the fluid which has been heated in the heat exchanger is compressed using a compressor and is returned to the first rectification column.

Method and unit for low-temperature air separation

A method for cryogenic separation of air uses an air separation plant, wherein, in a mass transfer column, a liquid first fluid and a gaseous second fluid are subjected to mass transfer with one another. A gaseous third fluid is removed from the column and is at least partly discharged from the air separation plant. A liquid fourth fluid is removed from the column and is at least partly fed into a low-pressure column. The first fluid is formed using at least a part of an oxygen-rich liquid removed from the low-pressure column. The second fluid is formed using an oxygen-enriched liquid removed from a high-pressure column. The oxygen-enriched liquid removed from the high-pressure column and bottom liquid of the mass transfer column are mixed and partly evaporated in a condenser-evaporator. A liquid fifth fluid is removed from the mass transfer column between a feed point for the first fluid and a feed point for the oxygen-enriched liquid, and is at least partly fed into the low-pressure column. The fifth fluid or a fraction thereof is fed into the low-pressure column below the fourth fluid or a fraction thereof.

Method for cryogenic separation of air, and air separation plant

The invention proposes a process and an air separation plant comprising a rectification column system comprising a high-pressure column, a low-pressure column, a main heat exchanger, and a main air compressor. The total air supplied to the rectification column system is compressed in the main air compressor to a first pressure level. The high-pressure column is operated at a second pressure level, at least 3 bar below the first pressure level. A gaseous, nitrogen-rich fluid is removed from the high-pressure column and warmed up in the gaseous state without prior liquefaction. A first partial quantity of the gaseous, nitrogen-rich fluid is warmed to a first temperature level of &#x2212;150 to &#x2212;100&#xb0; C., supplied at this first temperature level to a booster and compressed further to a third pressure level. The first partial quantity is then warmed to a second temperature level and discharged from the air separation plant.

The distillation column system has a high-pressure column and a low-pressure column, a main condenser, and an argon column with an argon column top condenser. The argon column top condenser is arranged within the low-pressure column between the upper and middle mass transfer regions and is configured as a forced-flow evaporator.

A method and apparatus for producing compressed nitrogen and liquid nitrogen. A separation system has a high-pressure column, a low-pressure column with a top condenser and a main condenser. Air is compressed in an air compressor, purified, cooled in a heat exchanger and introduced into the high-pressure column. A first part of the gaseous top nitrogen from the low-pressure column becomes compressed nitrogen product. A second part of the gaseous top nitrogen is condensed in the condensing space of the top condenser and vapor is drawn off as a residual gas stream. The vapor is expanded in a first expansion machine. A second compressed nitrogen stream from the top of the high-pressure column is expanded in a second expansion machine and then drawn off as compressed nitrogen product. A part of the nitrogen condensed in the top condenser is drawn off as liquid nitrogen product.

A method and plant for the cryogenic separation of air, the plant having an air compressor, a heat exchanger and a distillation column system having a low-pressure column at a first pressure and a high-pressure column at a second pressure. Feed air is compressed in the air compressor to a third pressure at least 2 bar above the second pressure A first fraction of compressed feed air is cooled in the heat exchanger and expanded in a first expansion turbine. A second fraction is cooled in the heat exchanger and expanded in a second expansion turbine A third fraction is compressed to a fourth pressure, cooled in the heat exchanger and then expanded. The third fraction is compressed to the fourth pressure in sequence in a recompressor, a hot first turbine booster and a second turbine booster. A dense fluid expander is used to expand the third fraction.

An argon-elimination column is in fluid connection with an intermediate point of the low-pressure column and is connected to an argon-elimination column head condenser. An auxiliary column has a sump region, into which gas is introduced from the argon-elimination column head condenser. The head of the auxiliary column is connected to a return flow liquid line, in order to introduce a liquid stream from the high-pressure column or the head condenser. The liquid stream has an oxygen content which is at least equal to that of air. At least one part of the crude liquid oxygen from the sump of the high-pressure column is fed to the auxiliary column at a first intermediate point.

Plant for producing oxygen by cryogenic air separation

A method and a device used to variably obtain a compressed-gas product by means of the low-temperature separation of air in a distillation column system. In a first operating mode, a first amount of first compressed-gas product is obtained, and, in a second operating mode, a second, smaller amount is obtained. In the first operating mode, a first amount of high-pressure column nitrogen is compressed in a nitrogen compressor and in the second operating mode, a second, larger amount is compressed in the nitrogen compressor.
