Specific 4-amino pteridines carrying particular phenyl substituents in the 7-position and no substituents in the 2-position have been found to be excellent nonkaliuretic diuretics at doses of 30 to 500 mg/kg in warm-blooded animals.

4-Hydroxy-7-(substituted)phenylpteridines

The present invention provides a therapeutically active composition having uricosuric, diuretic and antihypertension properties. The composition contains, as its active ingredient, a tetrazole compound having the structural formula: ##STR1##

Uricosuric diuretic composition

This invention provides 4-aroyl substituted phenoxy acetic acids and tetrazoles of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a phenyl ring, a substituted phenyl ring, or naphthyl; R.sub.1 is --CH.sub.2 COOH or methyl tetrazole, and X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are each a halogen or loweralkyl, or when taken together form with the two attached carbons a phenyl ring. These compounds are useful as antihypertensive agents, diuretics and uricosuric agents.
