Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for providing device(s) with additional processing time to process a packet received wirelessly while still meeting the legacy SIFS time constraint. The additional processing time may be achieved by adding, by a device transmitting the packet, padding and/or a packet extension to the last symbol of the packet. The additional processing time provided to the device(s) advantageously reduces the amount of extra hardware that would normally be added to meet the SIFS time constraint. The amount of padding and/or packet extension to be added to the last symbol is balanced to minimize the complexity of the device(s) against the reduction in system efficiency incurred by the device(s).

Packet extension for wireless communication

A system and method transmit a data stream from a source to a destination over a communication channel. A transmitter includes devices for processing inputs to assemble data packets for the data stream, and a multiplexer for assembling a data frame to be transmitted over the communication channel, in which each data frame has at least one fixed slot. The multiplexer sets at least one freely allocatable time slot in each data frame. Retransmission control devices connected to the multiplexer retransmit a specific data packet which is not properly received by the destination, using one of the freely allocatable slots.

Wireless audio transmission system and method

An integrated circuit system is provided for wireless data communication, comprising a set of hardware components and a port for connection to an RF antenna or an RF Front-End-Module, wherein at least a subset of hardware components is arranged for being shared for simultaneous wireless data communication based on a first protocol and a second protocol. Preferably, the first protocol includes a Wi-Fi standard and the second protocol includes a dedicated protocol for wireless audio communication.

Turbo decoding with iterative estimation of channel parameters

System and method of estimating radio channel bit error rate (BER) in a digital radio telecommunications system wherein the soft output of the turbo decoder is used as pointer or index to look-up-tables containing the bit-wise BER of a certain bit in the data field of the received frame. A quantizer quantizes the received data frame and the quantized bit operates on a switch which selects the appropriate look-up-table. By means of accumulation and scaling the average BER of a certain amount of bits are calculated. Decoding bit-errors may occur but as they are submitted to posterior probability estimation, systematic errors which normally happen at low SNR are avoided.

Method and device for calculating bit error rate of received signal

A RAKE receiver circuit generates combining weights based on channel estimates and combining statistics that comprise channel coefficient statistics, noise statistics, and channel estimation error statistics. Together, these statistics incorporate the relationships in noise and channel estimation across two or more RAKE fingers, and thus improve combining weight generation. Exemplary determination of statistics comprises channel coefficient cross-correlations, noise cross-correlations, and channel estimation error cross-correlations. Determination of the statistics can be varied based on, for example, the assumption of default or nominal signal models. Further, statistics determination can be configured for different receive and transmit diversity scenarios, wherein combining statistics can be determined on a per diversity signal basis, or jointly for two or more diversity signals, or in a mixed separate/joint method wherein one or more statistics are determined on a per signal basis and one or more statistics are determined across the signals.
