In a device and a corresponding method for joining a plurality of individual digital images to form a total image, a plurality of features is determined in a first individual image by means of a selection unit using a feature-based algorithm and then tracked in a second individual image by means of a tracking unit. A transformation matrix, with which the individual images are joined in an output unit to form the total image, is calculated from the determined feature correspondences in a transformation unit. The individual images can be joined in real time and with a high degree of accuracy by means of the feature-based algorithm in combination with a robust algorithm to calculate the transformation matrix.

Method and device for joining a plurality of individual digital images to form a total image

A stability and, thus, also a quality of mosaic generation is improved by exploiting the advantages of global optimization while giving up performing the optimization fully on the basis of mutual alignment of the image information alone, i.e. on the basis of the result of a search for similarities, but when, additionally, information about error statistics of the capturing device, which took over portion-by-portion capturing of the object plane, is instead also taken into account in the positioning of the subimages in that a secondary constraint (secondary constraint) is set up for the capturing position variables in the optimization problem.

Mosaic picture generation

Two sequences of data sets having at least two dimensions and referring to an object which changes over time are specified to a computer. Each data set in each sequence is assigned a measure of time which can be used to determine the temporal relationship of the data sets to the other data sets in the respective sequence. The computer compares the first data set) in the first sequence with the data sets in the second sequence and automatically determines a first data set from the second sequence corresponding to a first data set from the first sequence. With the aid of the corresponding first data sets in the first and second sequences and the measures of time assigned to the data sets, the computer then determines, for each of the other data sets in the first sequence, the corresponding data set from the second sequence.

Operating method for a computer having sequences of data sets changing over time and corresponding devices

The invention relates to a method for examining the ocular fundus, according to which images of the ocular fundus are generated by means of a camera and/or an illumination unit and are subjected to an evaluation. The aim of the invention is to further develop said method in such a way that the certainty of a decision is optimized while avoiding subjective assessments. Said aim is achieved by controlling and/or regulating the optimization of the camera position and/or the illumination unit with regard to the certainty of detection following an automatic classification by means of a predefined pattern detection algorithm.
