A method including, at a camera, detecting motion in a field of view of the camera using a motion sensor, initiating processing of video data corresponding to the field of view in which the motion was detected, ceasing the processing after a first time duration, and determining a cool-off period for the motion sensor, the cool-off period having a second time duration based on the first time duration during which the camera does not detect motion using the motion sensor.

The various implementations described herein include a video camera assembly that includes: (1) a housing; (2) an image sensor encased in the housing and configured to capture activity of the smart home environment; (3) a wireless radio configured to transmit video frames captured by the image sensor to an electronic device via a remote server; (4) at least one infrared transmitter configured to selectively illuminate the smart home environment; (5) one or more circuit boards encased in the housing, the one or more circuit boards including at least one processor mounted thereon; and (6) a heating component coupled to the image sensor, the heating component configured to continuously maintain the image sensor at a temperature above a threshold temperature while the image sensor is capturing the activity of the smart home environment.

An ultrasound imaging system is disclosed. The system comprises an ultrasound emitter and receiver movably disposed within an elongate member, an actuator coupled to the emitter, and a control system. The actuator moves the emitter through a path comprising at least a portion of an arc. The control system controls the emission of a sequence of pulses from the emitter and receives from the receiver ultrasound echo data associated with the sequence of pulses emitted along the path. The control system processes the ultrasound echo data to generate a cross-sectional image of an internal structure based on echo amplitude data and echo velocity data.

Doorbell camera systems are provided to include a doorbell camera subsystem and a chime subsystem both coupled to receive power from an alternating current power source. The doorbell camera subsystem may include, among other features, a camera module and a doorbell button. The chime subsystem may include, among other features, a current compensation network and chime driver circuitry operative to be coupled to a chime. The current compensation network is operative to dynamically adjust current consumption of the chime subsystem and current consumption of the doorbell camera subsystem during both a standby mode and a doorbell event mode.

Systems and methods for self-administering a sound test to verify operation of a speaker and/or alarm within a hazard detection system are described herein. The sound test can verify that the audible sources such as the alarm and speaker operate at the requisite loudness and frequencies. In addition, the sound test can be self-administered in that it does not require the presence of a person to initiate or verify that the audible sources are functioning properly.

Systems and methods for coordinating and administering self tests of smart home devices having audible outputs

Doorbell camera systems are provided that can include a doorbell camera subsystem and a chime subsystem. The doorbell camera subsystem may include, among other features, a camera module and a doorbell button. The chime subsystem may include, among other features, a battery and electronics that interface with a chime such as existing doorbell chime or a speaker. The battery is co-located with the chime subsystem and away from the doorbell camera subsystem. Co-locating the battery with the chime subsystem removes the battery from potentially harsh environmental conditions it would otherwise be subjected to if it was co-located with the doorbell camera subsystem.

Audible alarm circuit operation optimization can be achieved using embodiments that fall within anyone of four general categories: compensation networks, direct drive, dynamic tuning, and microphone feedback based dynamic tuning. Use of such circuitry can increase production yields by compensating for manufacturing variations of alarm components and aging characteristics of the components.

Apparatus, systems, methods, and related computer program products for handling temperature variation with optoelectronic components of a hazard detection system are described herein. A power characteristic of an optoelectronic component of the hazard detection system may be used to determine a temperature of an environment of the hazard detection system. A power characteristic of an optoelectronic component of the hazard detection system may be used to determine a smoke condition of an environment of the hazard detection system. Optoelectronic components of the hazard detection system may be optically coupled to determine a smoke condition of an environment of the hazard detection system. Multiple optoelectronics of the hazard detection system may be operative to detect forward scatter and back scatter of one or more types of light to determine a characteristic of a hazard particle.
