The present invention concerns a method for the manipulation-proof separation of message streams, which are transmitted in the subscriber loop (3) of a communication network via a medium (30) that is common to several subscribers, where first measures (22, 43) are taken to separate the message streams for transmission via the common medium, which are identical for all message streams, and for connections between at least one subscriber (4) connected to the communication network via the common medium, and another subscriber, supplementary measures (111, 112, . . . , 11n; 42) are taken from end to end, which were agreed between these subscribers for these connections, as well as a suitable system and a suitable subscriber facility.

Method, system and subscriber facility for manipulation-proof separation

The high transmission capacity of an optical transmission path (about 200,000 km Mbit/s) is used, among others, to couple several data sources and data sinks to an optical waveguide. The task of the invention is to ensure the coupling in and out of several data streams to or from any path section of a (predetermined) optical transmission path. This task is fulfilled by a device for the parallel-serial conversion, and a device for the serial-parallel conversion of the data streams to the optical transmission path. The coupling in and out of the individual data streams is performed by optical modulators or optical expanders, which are incorporated into the optical transmission path. Several data streams are parallel-serial converted by means of additional incorporated optical time delay elements, which ensure the bit interlacing of the data streams (bit-interleaved).

A multistage switching facility for optical signals where time conversions are only used in the last stage while only space and frequency conversions are used in the other stages. The last stage contains space, time and frequency position converters resulting in a facility in which no signal overtaking is possible when multiple routing is provided in the switching facility.

A switching device for being connected to switch optical input signals received on a plurality of optical input signal lines into optical output signals on a plurality of optical output signal lines; each device has a time slot interchanger or a wavelength converter in combination with a space-division switching stage for freely exchanging signals on different lines, wherein, according to the invention, such a switching device has multiple stages, including both a time slot interchanger stage and a wavelength converter stage in combination with two space-division switching stages and wherein between every two of the space-division switching stages a time slot interchanging or wavelength converting stage is inserted; the time slot interchanger stages may alternate with wavelength converter stages with a space-division switching network stage in between.; the stages may be combined, such as space-division switching stages and time-slot-interchanging or wavelength-converting stages forming a single functional unit. The apparatus may comprise a module for use in a system having a plurality of such modules.

Optical switch and switching module therefor

Switches (multiplexers, demultiplexers, data switches) are provided for optical signal transmission, by which two or more data streams are combined or separated or by which combined data streams are switched. Instead of buffering as in time-division multiplexing, wavelength conversions are performed. By space-division and wavelength-division multiplexing, storage problems can be largely avoided.

An integrated communication system (e.g., BIGFON) includes the narrow-band telephone network and a superposed video-telephone network. The path search for setting up calls in the telephone network is carried out with the aid of the telephone call numbers. To permit a video-telephone network structure independent of the structure of the telephone network, each subscriber of the video-telephone network must be assigned a separate video-telephone call number for the path search in the broadband network. In order that a subscriber does not have to dial two different numbers to set up a video-telephone call, each exchange (V1, V2) of the communication system includes a mapping circuit (ZS) which establishes for each video-telephone subscriber (TEA, TEB) a correspondence between his or her telephone call number and a video-telephone call number serving to set up calls in the video-telephone network. This video-telephone call number can be called up from the mapping circuit (ZS) via the telephone network (FN).
