A device for determining the wheel and/or axle geometry of motor vehicles in a measuring space, using an optical measuring device having at least two image recording devices, which records from at least two different perspectives a marking device including a plurality of wheel features arranged on a wheel, at least one vehicle body feature and a reference feature array having at least three reference features offset in at least one plane, and having an evaluation device, the position of the reference features in the measuring space being known to the evaluation device, the recording of the marking device taking place during the passage of the motor vehicle and the axis of rotation of a measured wheel being ascertained by the simultaneous recording of the wheel features and of the at least one vehicle body feature at a plurality of points in time in the measuring space. In a simplified design, the determination of the wheel and/or axle geometry is made easier by determining the vertical direction in the measuring space from the position of reference features in the measuring space, by ascertaining the direction of the axis of travel of the motor vehicle in the evaluation device on the basis of recording the marking device separately for each wheel from a track of motion of the at least one vehicle body feature, and by determining the position of the axis of rotation of the wheel with respect to the vertical direction and the direction of the axis of travel.

Device for determining wheel and/or axle geometry of motor vehicles

A device and a method for axle alignment, in which an angle between a wheel of a vehicle and a reference direction is determined, the angle being determined using a transducer, which contains at least one rotation speed sensor. The transducer is set so that it assumes a known position with respect to the reference direction. The angle obtained for the transducer arranged on the wheel of the vehicle is a measure of a trail angle or a camber angle of the wheel.

Axle measuring device and method

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for adjusting the alignment of a beam characteristic of a distance sensor, in particular of a proximity radar for a motor vehicle. An apparatus for positioning a motor vehicle, preferably a headlight aiming device, is joined to the target object for the distance sensor. Also provided is a service unit with which measured values or data of the distance sensor can be read out. On the basis of at least one predefined criterion, the measured values or data are analyzed in such a way that necessary displacement directions of the distance sensor can be displayed by way of the service unit. Preferably the capability of the distance sensor to determine angular positions of detected target objects is utilized. Otherwise adjustment is performed to predefined reception levels.

Method and device for adjusting a distance sensor

A gas-sensitive sensor membrane for the determination of gas concentrations in gas mixtures is proposed. Also proposed are a method and an apparatus for determining gas concentrations based on the change in the electromagnetic radiation absorption properties and/or the optical refraction index of an indicator substance, contained in the sensor membrane, which interacts with the gas to be determined.

In order to provide a method and arrangement for analytical determination of the relative amounts of exhaust gas components, except for water, but including hydrogen in the rich range or oxygen in the lean range, and for determining a &lgr; value, in which the exhaust gas sample can be taken at any arbitrary location, an arrangement is provided in which at least one portion of the exhaust gas is passed through a catalytic reactor (,), a condenser (,) connected to the catalytic reactor to receive the gas passed through it, and, after passing through the condenser, the gas passes through an IR spectrometer and by a &lgr;-sensor. The oxidizable and reducible components of the exhaust gas are reacted with each other in the catalytic reactor which is heated to temperatures greater than 450&deg; C. The relative amounts of CO,, hydrocarbons and, if present, CO are measured with the IR spectrometer and either the relative amount of hydrogen in the rich range or of O,&plus;&frac12; NO in the lean range is determined with the help of the signal (I,) from the &lgr;-sensor. A &lgr; value is calculated from the measured exhaust gas component concentrations or relative amounts.

Method and arrangement for analyzing exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine

A test station for fuel injection pump includes a test container enclosing an air space into which a fuel injection nozzle under test opens. A microphone communicates with the air space to convert air pressure pulses resulting during each injection into a corresponding electrical signal. The integral of the output signals from the microphone is a measure for the quantity of the injection fuel. The total quantity of injected fuel can be determined by a calibration system.

To provide a rugged vibration and shock-insensitive position transducer, a coil is wound on a lamella-like carrier which has a body element of electrically insulating material on which, at least on one surface, a foil of magnetically highly permeable material is positioned; these lamella-foil combinations can be stacked, or a unitary body which foils on both sides can be provided. A short-circuit ring, movable along the core, changes the inductance of the coil wound thereon, the value of which can be determined by energizing the coil with alternating current.

To prevent contamination of confining surfaces of vessels through which a light beam is passed, the attenuation of which is a measure of the optical transparency of exhaust gases from Diesel engines, transparent disks, such as glass disks, are rotated adjacent the chamber and heated, for example by gas jets or an infrared source to such a temperature that the disk temperature is raised to a level sufficient to burn off any residual deposits left by the gases on the disks, so that the transparency of the disk will not be impaired and adulterate the measuring results.
