A method for operating a fuel-operated burner () downstream of an engine () and upstream of a catalytic converter (), comprising an actuation of an ignition apparatus () of the burner () during a pre-definable preheating phase, without delivering fuel () to the burner () during the preheating phase, and, after the end of the preheating phase, a timely delivery of fuel () to the burner () and combustion of the delivered fuel () in the burner (). Further, a computing unit and a computer program product for carrying out such a method are proposed.

A method for operating an exhaust gas burner that is situated in an exhaust gas system downstream from an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle during a start phase of the exhaust gas burner, in which the internal combustion engine is not fired. The method includes an incremental increasing of the air mass flow supplied to the exhaust gas burner and an incremental varying of a fuel mass flow supplied to the exhaust gas burner.

Method for operating an exhaust gas burner

A piston pump, in particular a high-pressure fuel pump for an internal combustion engine, includes a pump housing, a pump piston, and a delivery chamber that is delimited at least by the pump housing and the pump piston. The piston pump further includes a seal configured to seal the delivery chamber and a separate guide element configured to guide the pump piston. The seal and the guide element are arranged between the pump piston and the pump housing. The seal is formed as a plastic ring with a substantially sleeve-shaped base portion.

Piston pump

A piston pump, in particular high-pressure fuel pump for an internal combustion engine, includes a pump housing, a pump piston and a conveying chamber defined at least by the pump piston and the pump housing. A seal for sealing the conveying chamber and a separate guide element for guiding the pump piston may be arranged between the pump piston and the pump housing. The seal is designed as a metal sleeve, and may have a radially outwardly projecting web.

Piston pump, particularly a high-pressure fuel pump for an internal combustion engine

A fuel injection system has a fuel distributor and multiple fuel injection valves each disposed on a cup of the fuel distributor. At least one injection valve is mounted on the associated cup by way of at least one holding element. An abutment surface is provided on the outer side of the cup. A support surface is configured on the underside of the cup. The holding element is moreover configured as a holding clamp. An abutment surface is provided on an outer side of the fuel injection valve. The holding clamp engages on the one hand behind the abutment surface of the cup and on the other hand behind the abutment surface of the fuel injection valve. The holding clamp furthermore pushes the fuel injection valve toward the support surface.

Arrangement with a fuel distributor and multiple fuel injection valves

A fuel distributor, which is used, in particular, for fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing, internal combustion engines having externally supplied ignition, includes a distributor pipe, a first holder and at least one second holder. The distributor pipe has a longitudinal axis. In this connection, the first holder and the second holder are situated at the distributor pipe so as to be axially set apart from one another with respect to the longitudinal axis. The distributor pipe is designed to allow axial length compensation. It is also possible for at least one holder to be designed to allow axial length compensation.

Fuel distributor

A system, which is used in particular as a fuel injection system for the high-pressure injection in internal combustion engines, includes a fuel distributor and a plurality of fuel injectors. Each fuel injector is situated on a cup of the fuel distributor. At least one of the fuel injectors is fastened to the associated cup by a holding element, which has a supporting surface. The cup has a contact surface on an underside, by way of which the cup is supported at the supporting surface of the holding element by a damping layer. The holding element is attached to the cup. In addition, the fuel injector has a collar, which is braced on the holding element. Because of the damping layer, vibrations are able to be dampened, and the noise transmissions is able to be reduced.

System having a fuel distributor and multiple fuel injectors

Known devices for separating liquids using parallel-connected cyclones, when gas flows are fluctuating, have a poor separating action. In the device of the invention, the separating action is conversely improved by providing that the number of separator elements through which the gas flow flows is adapted in each case to the gas flow. When the gas flow is high, there is a flow through more separator elements than when the gas flow is low. In this way, the separator elements are operated closer to the optimal operating point than in the prior art. According to the invention, it is proposed that a closing body () of a distributor valve () be disposed movably in a distributor conduit () and either automatically or by means of a drive mechanism adjusts the optimal number of separator elements () through which there is a flow.

Device for separating liquid from a gas current

The invention concerns an oil separator () for crankcase gases of an internal combustion engine, comprising a preliminary separator (), a cyclone separator (), a fine separator () and, if necessary, a valve device () that are provided in a cascade arrangement on a cylinder-head cover () of the internal combustion engine; in order to create an oil separator for use in various engines having different quantities of crankcase gas, said oil separator is designed so that, as an option, helixes () having different radial depths of the flow path can be inserted in a housing section for the cyclone separator ().

Oil separating device for crankcase gases of an internal combustion engine

With known devices for separating oil in the crank housing ventilator, oil is collected on a refined gas side of a filter, which in operation of an internal combustion engine, often cannot drain off. In this manner, the liquid level increases, so that the filter is increasingly clogged by the oil. Finally, the oil is carried away from a gas stream. In this manner, the oil use of the internal combustion engine greatly increases. With the device of the present invention, the oil collected on the refined gas side is collected in a liquid storage unit (), whereby the liquid storage unit () is protected from the stream, so that the gas stream can not carry away oil any longer. The device includes a support body (), which is impermeable to the stream by means of a cut-off wall (), in order to prevent a carrying-off of the oil.

The invention concerns an oil separator ( ) for crankcase gases of an internal combustion engine, comprising a preliminary separator ( ), a cyclone separator ( ), a fine separator ( ) and, if necessary, a valve device ( ) that are provided in a cascade arrangement on a cylinder-head cover ( ) of the internal combustion engine; in order to reduce the mutual interference of flowing crankcase gas and separated fluid, an oil drain opening ( ) is provided upstream from the cyclone separator ( ) in the flow or cascade direction, through which oil separated in the preliminary separator can be returned.
