A device for emptying a mail item container that is open at the top and serves for transporting mail items. The mail item container has sidewalls and a container underside. The device has a lifting device for moving the mail items relative to the sidewalls. In order to enable postal articles, such as, for example, letter mail items, to be emptied from a mail item container in an ergonomically favorable and efficient manner without adversely affecting its mechanical stability to too great an extent, it is proposed that the lifting device is provided for passing through the underside of the container.

The invention relates to a method and a device for processing flat mailings, according to which two or more piles of mailings, the destination addresses of which are known and which are sorted according to the distribution order, are separated by a separating device, are directed onto a common transport path, and are then jointly stacked in the order in which the mailing have been transported. The separation process is timed in such a way that the joined mailings are transported on the transport path in the order in which they are to be distributed based on the known destination addresses. A unit detecting the destination addresses on the mailings and a sensor arrangement detecting the leading an trailing edges of the mailings are disposed along the transport path.

The present invention relates to a method and a device for stacking flat mailings, in which the thickness of each individually conveyed mailing that is to be stacked is detected within a main control loop. The underfloor belt is displaced away from the stacking location by a distance that corresponds to the measured thickness minus a specific distance by means of a stack support for the arriving mailing. The stacking force is measured at different heights in the area of the stacking roll in a static correcting control loop and is re-regulated by moving the underfloor belt within set point values established for the allowed stacking force ranges once each mailing has reached the stop.

Method and device for stacking flat mailings

The present invention relates to a system and method for stacking objects in a stack. The objects may be flat flexible objects with front and back edges being narrower than side walls. Accordingly, the objects may comprise mail pieces. Per the invention, the mail pieces are directed to a stacker. The stacker comprises an impact wall with abutting installation and limiting walls. Accordingly, the stack may be formed therebetween with the installation wall being urged towards the limiting wall so as to sandwich the stack. At least one diverter element or vain is included upstream from the stacker. A roller of a conveying element is positioned upstream from the upper most vain. An object is directed towards the impact wall. When the objects leading edge impacts the wall, the vain or roller closest to the trailing portion of the object causes the trailing portion to be urged towards the stack. The vains may be pivoted while the roller made to turn in a select manner. Accordingly, trailing edges of objects do not interfere with leading edges of subsequent objects.
