A longitudinal shaft arrangement for a motor vehicle has at least a first shaft and a second shaft, wherein the first shaft has a journal with a first end and a second end, and a constant velocity ball plunging joint for connecting the first shaft to the second shaft, wherein a joint inner part of the constant velocity ball plunging joint is mounted at the second end and a joint outer part is arranged on the second shaft, wherein the joint outer part has a first stop for a cage of the constant velocity ball plunging joint in an end zone of a plunging region, with the result that the cage is brought into contact with the first stop when the first shaft and the second shaft are pushed into one another.

The invention relates to a drive assembly for transmitting torque, having a propeller shaft ( ) and an intermediate bearing ( ), such as they are used in motor vehicles for example, wherein the propeller shaft ( ) includes a first shaft portion ( ) with a first joint ( ), a second shaft portion ( ) with a second joint ( ), and a third joint ( ) in the form of a constant velocity fixed joint which connects the first shaft portion ( ) and the second shaft portion ( ), and wherein the intermediate bearing ( ), which adjoins the constant velocity fixed joint ( ) and is associated with the first shaft portion ( ), including rolling contact bearing ( ); in the drive assembly, the smallest inner diameters (dcA, dwz) of the outer joint part ( ) of the joint ( ) and of the second shaft tube ( ) associated with the second shaft portion ( ) are greater than the greatest outer diameters (Dw, DL) of the first shaft portion ( ) and of the rolling contact bearing ( ) of the intermediate bearing ( ); this assembly permits the two shaft portions ( ) to move inside one another in a telescopic and substantially force-free way if the axially permitted maximum plunging path of the first joint ( ) and the second joint ( ) is exceeded, for example as the result of a frontal impact of the vehicle.
