A communication terminal is described comprising a two SIMs, first components assigned to the first SIM and second components assigned to the second SIM and a shared component. A priority determiner determines, for each first component a priority of a function to be carried by the component using the shared component and determines an accumulated priority for the first SIM and determines for each second component a priority of a function to be carried by the component using the shared component and determines an accumulated priority for the second SIM and further comprises a controller configured to give access to the shared radio communication component based on the accumulated priorities.

A technique for cell signature determination in a cellular communication network is described. A method implementation of this technique comprises the steps of providing a set of cell signature hypotheses (d(n)), each cell signature hypothesis including a first partial hypothesis (d(2n)) and a second partial hypothesis (d(2n+1)), receiving a signal (X(n)) carrying a cell signature, the signal (X(n)) including a first partial signal (X(2n)) and a second partial signal (X(2n+1)), correlating the first partial signal (X(2n)) with each first partial hypothesis (d(2n)) to determine a first correlation result for each cell signature hypothesis, correlating the second partial signal (X(2n+1)) with each second partial hypothesis (d(2n+1)) to determine a second correlation result for each cell signature hypothesis, and determining the cell signature based on the correlation results including discarding a given cell signature hypothesis based on an analysis of a first magnitude of the first correlation result associated with the given cell signature hypothesis and a second magnitude of the second correlation result associated with the given cell signature hypothesis.

Technique for cell signature determination

A technique for cell signature determination in a cellular communication network is provided. A method implementation of this technique comprises the steps of providing a set of hypothesis signals, each hypothesis signal including a signature hypothesis, receiving a composite signal including a first signal portion carrying a first signature from a first cell and a second signal portion carrying a second signature from a second cell, wherein the first signal portion and the second signal portion overlap at least partially in time, and obtaining a correlation result by correlating the composite signal with each hypothesis signal. After the first signature has been determined, a set of phantom signatures associated with the first signature is provided. The phantom signatures represent artifacts from the first signal portion in the correlation result. Finally, the second signature is determined based on the correlation result taking into account the set of phantom signatures associated with the first signature.

The invention relates to a technique for controlling a synchronization of a terminal device () with a wireless network, e.g. an LTE network, wherein data are transmitted as a continuous data signal on a radio interface () while being processed block-wise in the terminal (). A method embodiment of the technique for achieving at least a downlink () synchronization comprises establishing a time-address mapping (TAM,) indicative of an association of a reference time value of an internal clock () with a reference address in the reception data buffer (); determining an address of data samples representing the received data block in the reception data buffer () based on the time-address mapping; and initiating a block-wise reading of the data block from the reception data buffer () based on the determined address.

Technique for synchronizing a terminal device with a wireless network

A technique for adjusting a phase relationship among modulation symbols is disclosed. A method embodiment of this technique comprises the steps of applying to a sequence of modulation symbols a phase ramp that continuously increases over the duration of the symbol sequence, and applying a compensation phase to each modulation symbol to introduce a phase offset between two subsequent modulation symbols. The joint application of the phase ramp and the compensation phase can be used to establish a saw tooth-like phase characteristic over the sequence of modulation symbols. In one embodiment, the phase ramp is applied in the context of impressing a frequency shift on the modulation symbols.

Technique for adjusting a phase relationship among modulation symbols

A baseband processing technique is described that permits to process in an analog signal domain a complex-valued baseband signal to laterally remove interference components resulting, for example, from in-band blocking signals. In an exemplary device implementation, the baseband processing device is configured to receive a baseband signal having a designated signal bandwidth defined by two opposite band edges, wherein a first frequency shift in a first direction toward a first band edge is impressed on the baseband signal. The device comprises a first filter stage adapted to filter the baseband signal exhibiting the first frequency shift to remove interference components behind the first band edge, a frequency shifter stage adapted to shift the filtered baseband signal by a second frequency shift in a second direction opposite the first direction towards a second band edge, and a second filter stage adapted to filter the baseband signal exhibiting the second frequency shift to remove interference components behind the second band edge.

Baseband signal processing technique

A technique for generating a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) signal is described, in which from a set of M input symbols a set of N output symbols (M&#x3c;N) is generated. A method implementation of this technique comprises receiving a set of M input symbols in a time domain representation, subjecting the set of M input symbols to an interpolation operation in the time domain to obtain L interpolated samples (L&#x2266;N), mapping the interpolated symbols, or symbols derived from the interpolated symbols, to N orthogonal sub-carriers, and outputting N output symbols in a time domain representation.

Single carrier frequency division multiple access technique

A method and device for generating a Single-Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) signal having a transmission bandwidth and a Constant Amplitude Zero-Autocorrelation (CAZAC) sequence of length N. The SC-FDMA signal is presumed to have a time-domain formulation with a term representative of an Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) of length M, where M&#x3e;N. A frequency-domain representation of the CAZAC sequence is mapped to Nof Mfrequency points, where N&#x3c;M&#x3c;M, and the remaining frequency points are filled with zeros to obtain Mfrequency-domain samples. An IDFT of size Mis applied to the resulting frequency-domain samples to obtain a sub-sampled time-domain representation of the CAZAC sequence, which is then up-sampled according to the transmission bandwidth to generate the SC-FDMA signal.

Technique for SC-FDMA signal generation

A technique for generating a Single-Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) signal based on a Constant Amplitude Zero Auto-Correlation (CAZAC) sequence is disclosed. A method embodiment of this technique comprises generating a frequency domain representation of the CAZAC sequence by providing an analytical representation of the CAZAC sequence in the frequency domain with an integer phase term and calculating the integer phase term in a recursive manner for each of a plurality of frequency domain samples of the CAZAC sequence. The resulting frequency domain representation of the CAZAC sequence is then mapped to a pre-determined frequency location before being transformed into the time domain to obtain a time domain representation of the SC-FDMA signal. The SC-FDMA signal may be a random access signal for transmission on a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH).

Method, apparatus, and computer product for generating an SC-FDMA signal

A technique for determining a frequency offset between components of a communication network based on a Constant Amplitude Zero Auto-Correlation (CAZAC) sequence is described. A method implementation of this technique comprises a provision of a set of correlation signals at different frequencies, with each correlation signal being indicative of a specific frequency offset hypothesis and comprising the CAZAC sequence. Once a synchronization signal comprising the CAZAC sequence is received, this synchronization signal is correlated with each of the correlation signals to obtain a correlation result for each frequency offset hypothesis. In a next step, at least one of the frequency offset hypotheses is selected based on a comparison of the correlation results. The frequency offset may then be determined based on the at least one selected frequency offset hypothesis.

In up-to date communication devices an intermediate frequency signal is generated at first in a digital way and than is converted to an analogue signal by a digital-to-analogue converter (). In order to offer a greater flexibility in choosing a particular digital-to-analogue converter () the invention proposes to use sigma-delta modulators (), the output bit width (n) of which is arranged to be configurable. The advantage of providing sigma-delta modulators with a configurable output bit width is that by this the output bit width of the interpolation filters can be easily adapted to the input bit width of a chosen digital-to-analogue converter without the need to change the internal design of a baseband processing circuit.

A relative delay between analog R.F. output signals of a plurality of digital radio transmitters in a digital radio transmitter system is controlled. At least one interface receives delay information for each transmitter. A processing unit determines the relative delay between the output signals based on the received delay information. An adjuster adjusts in the digital domain the absolute delay of at least one of the radio transmitters in accordance with the determined relative delay.

Delay control in a digital radio transmitter system

A radio frequency signal is received by using a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter to sample the radio frequency signal at a sampling rate and to generate therefrom 1-bit digital samples representing a digital intermediate frequency signal. The intermediate frequency signal is demodulated to generate in-phase and quadrature samples. Demodulation may be performed by generating a first mixed signal by combining the 1-bit digital samples representing the intermediate frequency signal with a first sequence representing a cosine mixing signal; generating a second mixed signal by combining the 1-bit digital samples representing the intermediate frequency signal with a second sequence representing a sine mixing signal; and decimating the first and second mixed signals to generate the in-phase and quadrature samples. In alternative embodiments, the intermediate frequency signal is directly converted to in-phase and quadrature signals by using bandpass decimation filtering to subsample two time-shifted sequences of the intermediate frequency. In another alternative, the sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter uses subsampling to convert the radio frequency signal to a first intermediate frequency, and a decimation filter is used to further convert the signal to a second intermediate frequency. An IQ demodulator then reconstructs the in-phase and quadrature signals from the second intermediate frequency signal.

Digital reception with radio frequency sampling

Digital filtering is performed by receiving an L-bit block of 1-bit data samples, wherein L is greater than 1, and using the L-bit block of 1-bit data samples to select a corresponding one of,filter output values. Selection may be accomplished by using each of the L 1-bit data samples to determine a product value by alternatively selecting a corresponding filter coefficient or a negation of the filter coefficient, and then generating the corresponding one of the,filter output values by adding together the L product values. Alternatively, part or all of the L-bit block of 1-bit data samples may be used to address one or more memory structures having stored therein corresponding filter output values. When more than one memory structure is used, the outputs from the memories are added together to generate the filter result. In another aspect, a shift register and latch arrangement decimate the serially received 1-bit data samples, thereby allowing the filter result to be generated at the decimated rate.
