A method and a device for the automatic determination of selected physical and colloidal chemistry parameters by determining the attenuation of radiated waves through monodisperse or polydisperse dispersion samples subjected to gravitation or centrifugation, wherein during the segregation by means of centrifugation or gravitation, the instantaneous transmission I(t, r) characterizing the current segregation status of the waves radiated with the intensity I(t, r) and/or the instantaneous scattering I(t, r) as a function of the position within the samples is repeatedly determined and recorded at high resolution at any arbitrary time for one or more wavelengths over the entire length of the sample or in selected partial sections of it, simultaneously for multiple and even concentrated samples with known and/or unknown physical and colloidal chemistry properties.

Method and device for the characterization of multiple samples of one or various dispersions

Modeling the gravitational field-induced or centrifugal field-induced separation of particles of a dispersion by use of one or more additional force fields that also influence the migration of the particles. A method includes detecting and measuring the modified separation behavior with the help of concentration-measuring sensors. The force acting upon the particles can be calculated from the change in velocity of the particles, and the corresponding particle properties can be calculated if the respective field intensities are known.

Method and device for characterisation of multiple samples of one or various dispersions

This invention relates to an automatic sample collector for liquids which are discharged from a chromatographic column, a dialysis apparatus, or a reaction container, for example, and are consecutively collected at a give volume division, a method for collecting samples of a liquid in a predefined chronological sequence, and uses of the inventive sample collector. The volume is divided by assigning one or several gas-permeable liquid barriers () to each collection container (). The sample collector can be produced as one piece which is for single use and is made of polypropylene, Teflon, or other suitable materials. The inventive sample collector has the advantage that it requires no source of energy and can be autoclaved and miniaturized, among other things. The design of the inventive sample collector makes it possible to keep the content of the collection containers free from oxygen or immediately freeze the liquid flowing into the collection containers.

The invention relates to methods and devices for accelerated stability analysis, and in particular to a qualitative and quantitative direct estimation/identification of separation processes of disperse material systems (such as liquid-solid, liquid-liquid or liquid-gaseous). The invention also relates to methods and devices for the classification and quantitative characterization of slow, as well as rapid separation phenomena of disperse material systems of different volume concentration. Exemplary fields of application concern the development, selection and optimization of destabilizers, stabilizers and novel formulations for dispersions, as well as quality and process control (such as in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnological, cosmetic and food industries), as well as in the process technology for separation and treatment processes.
