The invention relates to an internal combustion engine having a piston-cooling arrangement () which has at least one spray device () which is supplied with a coolant/lubricant via at least one supply passageway (). The supply passageway () is arranged in a module () composed of a crankshaft-bearing structural element () and a crankshaft-bearing cap (). The spray device () is coupled to the crankshaft-bearing cap (), a crankshaft-bearing shell () in the region of the supply passageway (). Supply passageway () also connect to through-opening (), so that coolant/lubricant can be directed via the supply passageway () to both the spray device () and a crankshaft (). The spray device () is designed as an oil-spray nozzle () or alternatively as a spray hole () integrated in the crankshaft-bearing cap ().

Piston-cooling arrangement for an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a cylinder block of the closed-deck type, which can be produced by die-casting. The cylinder block includes a water jacket surrounding the cylinders adapted to be open to the side. The lateral opening can be closed by a cover, which is additionally shaped on its inside in such a way as to promote flow distribution or heat dissipation.

For introduction of the pistons with piston rings, bevels have to be arranged on the cylinder bore. These bevels are usually arranged on the cylinder top surface and are used to position a compressor. As a result, dead spaces which occupy a relatively large volume are formed in the region of the combustion chamber, in which dead spaces only inadequate combustion takes place, which may have an adverse effect on the raw emissions. According to the invention, there is provision for a run-up cone, which is used for introduction the piston and compression of the piston rings, to be fitted at the crankshaft-side end of the cylinder bore.
