A heat exchanger for cooling a gas includes a gas inlet, a gas outlet, and a plurality of cooling tubes arranged between the gas inlet and the gas outlet, wherein the cooling tubes of two successive tube rows are arranged offset transversely to a flow direction of the gas. A fin having openings is provided for receiving a corresponding number of the cooling tubes. The fin has slits arranged at a distance from the openings and configured to follow an edge profile of a honeycomb-shaped hexagon, with the slits of each hexagon surrounding a corresponding one of the openings at the distance. Arranged between adjacent ones of the openings is a corresponding one of the slits at a same distance from each of the adjacent openings, with each slit having an end ending at a deformation point of the fin.

Heat exchanger

For exhaust gas recirculation in internal combustion engines operating, for example, with low sulphur marine diesel oil, an exhaust gas cooler with a cooling unit may be applied that uses a liquid injection system to maintain clean and/or clean a cooling surface of the cooling unit. The liquid injection system may provide liquid into an exhaust gas passage upstream of and or along a condensation starting region the cooling surface, thereby reducing the formation of films and deposits from particulate matter and condensing liquid of an evaporated liquid within the exhaust gas such as sulphuric acid and/or water, as those deposits could otherwise at least partially block the exhaust gas cooler.

Exhaust gas cooler

The invention relates to an exhaust gas recirculation cooling element () comprising a heat exchanger () having several heat exchange units () that are introduced between the inflow region () and the outflow region () of the exhaust gas (AG). Said units comprise cooling tubes with cooling ribs. The heat exchanger () is surrounded by a housing (), the lateral walls thereof () being arranged at a distance in relation to the perforated lateral walls (). Guide channels () are arranged between the closed lateral walls () of the heat exchanger () and the adjacent lateral walls () of the housing (), said guide channels extending in a diagonal manner and being provided to direct the coolant (KM) from a coolant inlet to the coolant outflow through the individual heat exchange units ().
