Glass bonding adhesive with reduced slippage

Disclosed are polyurethane adhesive compositions which include (a) one or more urethane prepolymers having isocyanate moieties; (b) a catalytic amount of one or more catalysts; (c) one or more fillers; (d) one or more silane adhesion promoters; and (e) one or more monofunctional polyalkylene glycols.

Primerless polyurethane adhesive compositions

Disclosed is a composition including one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers; one or more catalysts for the reaction of isocyanate moieties and active hydrogen containing moieties; one or more mercapto silanes; one or more amino silanes, isocyanato silanes or a mixture thereof; one or more reinforcing fillers comprising one or more high surface area carbon blacks; one or more untreated calcium carbonates; one or more polyisocyanates having an isocyanate functionality of about 2 or greater; and one or more linear plasticizers. Preferably, the isocyanate functional prepolymer is prepared in the presence of at least a portion of the linear plasticizer. Preferably, the isocyanate functional polymer is prepared in the presence of a dialkyl malonate. The composition may be one-part adhesive composition. Also disclosed are methods of applying the compositions to substrates. The composition bonds primerlessly to hard to bond to coatings, such as coatings prepared from compositions including a silanated component, such as a silanated acrylopolyols, or having silica clusters.

Isocyanate functional adhesive which bonds primerless to silanated acrylic polyol based coatings

A composition comprising: a) one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers; b) one or more amorphous linear polymers having sufficient polarity to form a homogeneous mixture with the one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers and having a hydroxyl number of about 10 or less; c) one or more forms of carbon black; and d) one or more catalysts for the reaction of isocyanate moieties with active hydrogen atom containing groups.

Curable compositions containing isocyanate functional components having improved durability

The invention is a two-part composition comprising: A) in one part (i) one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers; and B) in a second part (ii) one or more compounds having isocyanate reactive groups; (iii) one or more fillers selected such that the composition is nonconductive; (iv) one or more catalysts for the reaction of isocyanate groups with active hydrogen containing compounds wherein either or both of the one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers and the one or more compounds having isocyanate reactive groups have solid organic particles grafted thereto such that the composition contains from about 6 to about 13 percent by weight of the total composition of solid organic particles. In a preferred embodiment, the second part comprises from about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of one or more compound having isocyanate reactive groups which have solid organic particles grafted to the backbone. In another preferred embodiment, the one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers comprise about 14 to about 20 percent by weight of solid organic particles grafted to the backbone of the prepolymers. In another preferred embodiment, the solid particles comprise a thermoplastic polymer or rubber-modified thermoplastic polymer.

Adhesive composition adapted for bonding large mass parts to structures

In one embodiment, the invention is a composition comprising: a) one or more isocyanate functional polyether based prepolymers having a polydispersity of less than about 2.5 determined by Gel Permeation Chromatography at a Mp of &#x3e;1000; b) one or more plasticizers in sufficient amount that the composition can be pumped and applied to a substrate at a temperature of &#x2212;10&#xb0; C., preferably in an amount of about 15 percent by weight or less; c) one or more fillers in sufficient amount such that the composition exhibits a press flow viscosity of about 8 grams per minute or more; d) one or more catalysts for the reaction of isocyanate moieties with isocyanate reactive groups; wherein the composition demonstrates 30 minutes after application a high speed impact of about 1.6 MPa or greater according to DIN EN 1465 high speed impact test.
