A suction muffler for a reciprocating hermetic compressor, comprising a hollow body () provided with a gas inlet and a gas outlet (), which are respectively in fluid communication with the gas supply to the compressor and with a suction side thereof, said hollow body () defining a plurality of chambers comprising an innermost first acoustic chamber () in fluid communication with the gas outlet () of the hollow body (), and a second acoustic chamber () surrounding at least partially the first acoustic chamber () and in fluid communication with at least one of the parts defined by said first acoustic chamber () and by the gas inlet () of the hollow body ().
