A screw-cap (1) for closing a container mouth has a sealing lip (5), which is affixed to the cap top (4). The inner side-wall (7) of the sealing lip (5) has a diameter (A) which is greater than the outer diameter (B) of the container outer wall (8). A clamping device, which can be designed as an inner seal (13), creates a contraction of the cap top when the screw-cap is screwed on to the container, by which means the sealing lip (5) is pressed against the container mouth (8). In this manner the sealing lip (5) is only pressed radially against the container mouth during the course of the screwing-on process. In this way over-stretching and damage to the material of the sealing lip can be prevented.

A closure cap (1) comprising thermoplastic material has a guarantee strip (4) which is joined to the closure cap by way of desired-rupture web portions (5). Besides the desired-rupture web portions (5) the guarantee strip is also joined to the closure cap by way of a reinforced region which comprises two substantially vertically extending holding web portions (8). The guarantee strip (4) is interrupted by a slot (9) between the two holding web portions so that the guarantee strip forms an open loop and can in any event be readily removed from the neck (3) of the container.

Tamper indicating closure for a container

In a method of closing a container having an external screw thread with a cap having an internal thread, the cap is located on the container in a pre-positioning or predetermined angular position corresponding to its final angular position and is then pressed into final closed position by axial force. The cap is located in the pre-positioning position by resilient abutments such as an internal seal, head seal, or projections on the cap which are overcome by the pressing force.

Method of closing the mouth of a container and a screw cap for use

A container having an external screw thread is closed by a synthetic plastics stopper comprising an internally threaded cap with a seal part protruding from the cap top, this seal part having an outwardly protruding seal section which in use is bent back outwardly by the inner wall of the container neck. The screw thread on the container neck, the screw thread on the cap and the seal section are such in relation to one another that in applying the stopper the seal section contacts the container neck and is bent back thereby before the external screw thread on the container and the internal thread on the cap come into engagement with one another. The seal section preferably consists of permanently deformable material so that on unscrewing the stopper, the seal between the stopper and the container opening is broken before the threads come out of engagement.

A two piece pourer closure, comprising a base portion with a cover portion which on rotation is raised by cooperating protuberances to open a pouring aperture, is provided with a separable guarantee strip, at least partly covering the cover portion to prevent it from being grasped and rotated and with means for centering and supporting a jacket portion of the cover against laterally acting forces. The means for supporting the jacket portion may be the protuberances on the base portion or a ring of guide elements on the base portion engaging the inner surface of the jacket portion.

A method for molding a plastic closure cap unit for a container, which cap unit comprises an internally threaded upper closure cap and a downwardly extending skirt forming a sealing ring connected thereto through an intermediate shear zone of reduced thickness, the sealing ring increasing in thickness downwardly from the shear zone and being devoid of abrupt changes in contour such as would preclude axial removal of the cap and sealing ring from a non-expanding mold surrounding the sealing ring, comprises injecting molten plastic into a mold shaped to form the cap unit and including fixed and movable sections forming mold surfaces, disengaging the mold from the outer surface of the upper closure cap by axial movement of the related mold section relative to the remaining sections, then disengaging the mold from the inner surfaces of the closure cap and sealing ring by axial movement of the related mold section relative to the remaining section of the mold still surrounding the outer wall of the sealing ring up to the lower rim of the upper closure cap, and then disengaging the mold from the cap unit by axial movement of the cap unit relative to the remaining section of the mold surrounding the sealing ring. The mold itself comprises first and second female mold sections engageable to form the outer surfaces respectively of the upper closure cap and the sealing ring, and a male mold section cooperating with the female mold sections to form the inner surface of the closure cap unit. Mold operating means effect the axial movements to effect removal of the cap unit from the mold.

A synthetic plastic cap for bottles is formed on its outer lid surface with an elevated portion which prevents contact with markings on the lid by articles placed on top of the bottle.

Synthetic plastic cap for bottles

A closure comprising a cap and downwardly depending band or skirt severable therefrom along a substantially annular predetermined tear line is disclosed. The band provides a tamper-proof or guarantee type closure. At least the band is made of heat deformable thermoplastic material whereby after positioning of the cap on the container the band is heat deformed to tightly encircle the container.

Container with screw cap and seal

A twist closure or screw-type cap is disclosed. The closure which has internal threading is for fitting onto a container having external threading. In one embodiment the uppermost thread turn of the internal threading of the cap terminates a distance spaced from the crown plate of the cap. In a further embodiment the cap is provided with a stopper which projects into and seals the opening of a container when the closure is positioned on the container, and characterized in that at least one beadlike enlargement is provided on the threading of the cap and/or container in the region of the beginning of thread commencement.
