A duct in which a fluid can be conducted is bound by duct walls, wherein the duct walls have an inlet opening and an outlet opening through which the fluid can enter the duct and exit the duct. The fluid has a flow velocity which is smaller along the duct walls than at the duct middle, so that a zone of higher flow velocity and a zone of lower flow velocity can be formed in the duct. A flow guide surface is arranged in the duct by means of which a portion of the fluid can be taken from the zone of higher flow velocity and can be mixed into the zone of lower flow velocity.

A two-fluid nozzle is provided. The two-fluid nozzle includes a main nozzle, a mixing chamber and a nozzle orifice connected to the mixing chamber and positioned downstream of the mixing chamber. A ring of secondary air nozzles surrounding the nozzle orifice is also provided.

A multi-hole or cluster nozzle having several outlet openings for fluid to be atomized. The central longitudinal axes of at least two of the outlet openings are aligned askew relative to one another, where a distance between the central longitudinal axes of these outlet openings and the main longitudinal axis of the nozzle is initially reduced when seen in the outflow direction, without intersecting the central longitudinal axis, and increases again after passing through a minimum distance. Use for example in nozzles for evaporative cooling or for flue gas cleaning.

A two-substance nozzle with a nozzle housing, the nozzle housing comprising at least one fluid inlet for fluid that is to be atomized, a second fluid inlet for gaseous fluid, a mixing chamber, a nozzle outlet opening and an annular gap opening surrounding the nozzle outlet opening, whereby, within the nozzle housing, means are provided for generating a film of fluid that is to be atomized on a wall in the mixing chamber, and inlet openings are provided for injecting gaseous fluid into the mixing chamber. The inlet openings and the mixing chamber are aligned and configured in a manner so as to inject the gaseous fluid essentially parallel to the wall in the mixing chamber and to move the stream of gaseous fluid within the mixing chamber essentially parallel past the wall.

An atomizing nozzle for two substances, which is used for spraying a liquid with the aid of a compressed gas, is provided. The atomizing nozzle includes a mixing chamber, a liquid inlet that extends into the mixing chamber, a compressed gas inlet which extends into the mixing chamber, and an outlet located downstream from the mixing chamber. An annular gap is provided which surrounds the outlet and discharges compressed gas at a high speed. The atomizing nozzle is used for purifying flue gas.

An assembly for separating liquid and/or solid particles carried in a multi-phase stream. The assembly has a separator, especially a droplet separator. An agglomerating device is prearranged with respect to the separator and has at least two rows of rods onto which the stream flows at an angle, especially a right angle, to the rods' longitudinal axes. The rods in a given row are opposite the gaps in an adjacent row. The rods have a maximum width of 2-10 mm, and the agglomerating device is flown against with a flow velocity of 2 to 15 m/sec. The following separator can be formed with a significantly more simple design by the prearrangement of the agglomerating device.

Separation apparatus

A droplet separator including a plurality of droplet separating members configured for the formation of packs which are disposed at a supporting structure. The packs are connected to the supporting structure in an upwardly tiltable manner. Accordingly, the droplet separator can be inspected and manually cleaned in a simple manner even with closest space conditions.

A rotary kiln with primary air feed at the end wall of the rotary kiln is distinguished by the feature that at least two primary air nozzles are oriented relative to each other and to the fuel bed so that two oppositely directed vortices are generated within the rotary kiln, the axes of rotation of said vortices extending substantially parallel to the axis of the rotary kiln and said vortices rotating about said axes of rotation so as to promote the thermal convection-induced motion of the combustion gases.

A mist eliminator for eliminating droplets from a liquid-laden gaseous flow, comprising wave-shaped profiles each including an entrant part configured as a half-wave of small amplitude and wavelength, a central part configured as a principal wave of large amplitude and wavelength, and an exit part of small amplitude and wavelength, the profiles including flow passages with reversing portions where the gaseous flow is alternately accelerated and decelerated, respectively, characterized in that the wave shape of the profiles is modified as compared to a sine-wave such that the turning points of each profile at least on the eliminating surfaces of the central part are shifted in downstream direction.
