The invention relates to a control for at least one retainer of a transfer device for a rod section of a ground drilling device, wherein the ground drilling device is configured for moving a drill string, and the transfer device is configured for transferring the received rod section from a position in a rod magazine to a position on the drill string or vice versa, and the control is configured to move the retainer between a position above the rod magazine and the position on the drill string while the drill string is still moving.

A boring-rod magazine which can be moved into the drilling axis of a boring machine. The boring-rod magazine may contain a plurality of boring rods, and holds a boring rod to position it in the drilling axis, and then releases the boring rod when boring-rod magazine is removed. The boring-rod magazine may include a carousel closed by a cover with a transfer opening for the boring rods. The magazine may include compartments for the boring rods, and spring mechanisms for holding and releasing the rods. The magazine may be rotated by a drive and kept in position by a rotary stop.

Method and apparatus for sinking pipes (8) or cables into a pilot borehole (4) by use of a drill string (3) including an expansion drill bit driven to rotate and pull is disclosed. The expansion drill bit is supplied with a wash fluid and is coupled with the pipe or cable (10) to be sunk into the borehole. The pulling force between the expansion drill bit (5) and the pipe or cable is continuously measured and the measurement values are transmitted to a drive for the drill string in real time. The advance speed and/or the advance force and/or the rotational speed and/or the torque and/or the wash fluid quantity and/or the wash fluid viscosity are adjusted as a function of the measurement values to be within predetermined values determined by the load capacity of the pipe (8) or cable.
