The electric lamp comprises a cap (10) having a housing (11) in a base portion (13) of which holes (14) are present to allow current conductors (3) to extend to contact members (15) of the cap. In the housing (11) a rubber disk (20) is present against the base portion (13), kept pressed against it by a pressing member (30). The rubber disk is pierced by the current conductors (3), sealing the cap and preventing volatile compounds to enter a reflector in which the lamp may be mounted.

Electric lamp

In an electrical lamp, whose envelope is closed by a pinch of rectangular cross-section, through which current-supply conductors are passed and which is supported in a cap between inwardly projecting parts, which seize around the narrower side faces of the pinch, according to the invention, one of the current supply conductors is bent backwards with its part projecting from the pinch along one of the narrower side faces and is clamped between pinch and lamp cap. Thus, it is possible to use a cap having only one bottom contact and nevertheless to secure the lamp envelope to the cap without additional means.

Electric lamp having a pinch supported in a sleeve-shared cap

An electric lamp having a tubular metal cap, in which a metal sleeve is arranged. The pinch of a lamp envelope is accommodated in the sleeve with a clamping fit. The cap has at least three depressions which are distributed around its circumference and which are each secured to the sleeve. The inner diameter of the cap--apart from the depressions--is larger than the outer diameter of the sleeve over the whole length of the cap opposite the sleeve. The light source of this lamp can be aligned in three directions with respect to the cap by longitudinal movement and pivoting, about transverse axes before the sleeve securing the cap to the lamp envelope without the use of cement.

The light bulb of a lamp/reflector unit is mounted in spaced relation to the reflecting surface of the reflector member by means of mounting clips which engage in a clamping manner around a respective narrow side face of the pinch seal of the light bulb. Support wires are secured to the mounting clips, with which wires the light bulb is suspended in the reflector member.

Lamp/reflector unit

A light bulb is mounted in a reflector member, by means of mounting members, elongate intermediate members and support pins. The mounting members each engage, opposite to each other, around a narrow side face of the pinch seal of the light bulb in a clamping manner. An intermediate member is connected to each of the mounting members and extends at least over a part of its length along an imaginary circle around the axis of the light bulb. Metal support pins are connected at one end to a respective intermediate member and at the other end to a contact member of the reflector member.

The invention relates to a construction of a lamp/reflector unit which is simple and which permits of connecting the light bulb in an aligned position very rapidly. For that purpose the light bulb has a metal support plate to which are fixed metal support pins by means of respective metal flanges. After the light bulb has been adjusted to a defined position with respect to the metal support pins, the metal support plate is secured to the metal flanges by soldering or welding.

A method for maintaining a sealed beam lamp unit comprising a quartz iodine lamp accommodated in an outer envelope. A sleeve-shaped cap which is made of a metal strip material surrounds the lamp pinch which is substantially rectangular in cross-section and to which a wire is secured which serves as the sole support for the lamp.
