A central-lubrication assembly, instead of a refillable lubricant reservoir there are two lubricant cartridges (8, 9) which are equipped with follow-up pistons (17, 18) and one of which serves for feeding a lubricant pump (3), while the other is designed as a replacement cartridge.

In a central-lubrication assembly with a gear pump (3) and with an electric motor (6) connected to the latter via a connecting piece (4), the connecting piece (4) is not only designed as a valve block for a combined pressure-relief and pressure-limiting valve, but also serves as bearings for shaft butts (17, 18) of the gearwheels (19, 20) of the gear pump (3) and furthermore performs the function of a coverplate for the gear pump.

In a central-lubrication assembly, a lubricant pump (3), a valve block (4), a drive motor (5) and a group of lubricant distributors (9) are fastened to the cover (2) of a housing (1) in the manner of a mounting unit. Above the housing (1) are arranged two lubricant cartridges (17, 18), one (18) of which forms a reserve cartridge, whilst the other is connected to the valve block (4) via a passage (14).

In a central-lubrication assembly for vehicles, with a lubricant reservoir, with a lubricant pump connected on the inlet side to the lubricant reservoir and on the outlet side to at least one lubricant distributor, there is used for the pressure relief of the lubricant distributor and for limiting the pressure built up by the lubricant pump a combined pressure-relief and pressure-limiting valve (6) which is equipped with a piston (9) displaceable counter to the effect of a return spring (8) in a bore (7) of a housing (5). The piston (9) can assume three different working positions, in a first position the pressure relief being obtained, and in a third position pressure limitation in the system being ensured.

In a central lubricating installation which is primarily intended for commercial vehicles the running time of the pump unit (2) supplying lubricant to the lubricant distributors (6, 7) is controlled as a function of the ambient temperature, determined by means of a temperature sensor (23).

In a central lubricating installation which is primarily intended for commercial vehicles the running time of the pump unit (2) supplying lubricant to the lubricant distributors (6, 7) is controlled as a function of the starting-current intensity, corresponding to the ambient temperature, of an electric motor (3) serving to drive the pump unit (2).

In a device for controlling the function of central lubrication installations with two electrically conducting components (8, 9) integrated into a signal circuit, a contact piston (18) provides the electrical contact between these components (8, 9). The contact piston (18) is guided with zero play in a bore (17) of one of the components (8, 9). It has a sealing section (19) which, in the working position of the device, is bypassed by two side ducts (24, 26) and a connected duct (25). One (24) of the connecting ducts (24, 26) emerges at a position in the bore (17) serving to guide the contact piston (18), which position is sufficiently far removed from the outlet opening of a flow duct (22) that lubricant can only flow through the device when a comparatively large distance has been established between one component (9) and the contact piston (18).
