A device for measuring at least one parameter, in particular of a volumetric flow, of a medium flowing in a line, in particular of the intake air volumetric flow of an internal combustion engine, includes at least one measuring element around which the medium flows. Constrictions, which do not uniformly constrict the cross-section of the line, do not produce any ring-shaped eddies that may be heard in the form of whistling noises.

A device for measuring at least one parameter of a medium flowing in a line, in particular the intake air mass of an internal combustion engine in which fluid particles and solid particles in the line influence a characteristic curve behavior of a measuring element which is used to determine a parameter of the flowing medium. A protective screen according to the invention deflects fluids and solid particles away from the measuring element in such a way that they are conveyed against an inner wall of the line. In addition, the device stabilizes the flowing medium by generating longitudinal eddies in a flow direction.

In devices for measuring the mass of aspirated air of an internal combustion engine, for instance, via a line, it is already known to provide a tubular body inside this line and to provide a temperature-dependent measuring element inside the tubular body. In order that dirt particles and liquid droplets entrained by the aspirated air will be kept away from the measuring element, in accordance with the invention, a protective screen is disposed inside the tubular body, upstream of the measuring element; the screen extends in inclined fashion in the flow direction, and dirt particles and liquid droplets are deposited on it and carried to a downstream end of the protective screen, so that via an outflow opening they can reach the inner conduit wall of the tubular body and be made to bypass the measuring element.

The invention relates to a device for measuring at least one parameter of the intake air mass flow of an internal combustion engine. Fluid particles contained in the line act on a measuring element and influence a characteristic curve behavior of the measuring element used to determine parameters of the flowing medium. In order to reduce the action of fluid on the measuring element, the measuring element is disposed in a line or a tubular body, downstream of a protective screen, which deflects the medium flow and deflects the fluid particles. Downstream of the protective screen, longitudinal ribs, a suction opening, or a turbulence generator reduce the release of uncontrolled eddies.

The match with a measurement characteristic curve of a device for air flow measurement is disturbed by pulsations, soiling and poor flow behavior. An improvement in the measuring performance of the device is achieved by provisions, which are adapted to one another, for reducing these sources of trouble, according to which the flow cross section of an inlet conduit narrows in a flow direction in the inlet conduit toward a deflection conduit, and a peripheral face of a first portion of the deflection conduit is embodied in inclined fashion, and at least one outer face of a sensor carrier, together with a peripheral face, closer to an outlet conduit, of the inlet conduit, forms a flush transition.

A device for measuring the mass of a flowing medium has a measuring element disposed in a measurement fitting. A flow rectifier that is provided upstream of the measuring element has flow openings that are separated from one another by intermediary pieces. A wire lattice is fastened to a tube of the flow rectifier extending in the direction of the measuring element. A measuring device serves to measure the mass of a medium flowing in a line along the primary flow direction, in particular the mass of aspirated air of an internal combustion engine. The measuring device has a measuring element bathed by the flowing medium, which element is disposed in a measurement conduit provided in the line. The conduit extends in an axial direction from an inlet opening of the measurement conduit to a deflection conduit. The deflection conduit leads to an outlet opening that discharges into the line at an outer face of the measuring device. In the surroundings of the outlet opening, at least one protuberance is provided on the outer face of the measuring device that has the outlet opening.

The device has a platelike sensor element which is accommodated in a recess of a sensor carrier, and which with a sensor region that has at least one measuring resistor is exposed to the flowing medium in order to measure its mass. The sensor element is accommodated essentially flush in the recess and is retained in the recess by being glued to a bottom face in the recess. The bottom face of the recess of the sensor carrier has a troughlike indentation, which extends at least partially along the circumference of the sensor element outside the sensor region that has the at least one measuring resistor. The device according to the invention is intended to measure the mass of a flowing medium, in particular for measuring the mass of air aspirated by internal combustion engines.

A devices for measuring the mass of a flowing medium, having a temperature-sensitive measuring element, in which accurate medium flow measurement can be made in the presence of a pulsating flow which is characterized by flow fluctuations. In order to provide accurate measurements, the device has a structure which is installed in the measuring conduit in a region of its inside wall upstream and downstream of the measuring element. The structure has friction faces exposed to the oncoming flow in which the friction faces effect a flow resistance which can be varied by the intensity of the flow fluctuations, only in the presence of a pulsating flow, so that the flow is positively displaced more or less into the region of the measuring element, in order to increase the flow velocity and to compensate for the measurement errors. The invention is for measuring the mass of a flowing medium in the intake of an internal combustion engine.
