In a hermetically sealed cell, the housing is formed by two metal cylinders which are each closed at one end and which are pushed over one another to obtain a press-fit such that, with the interposition of an intermediate insulating layer made from a plastic material, the cylinder which forms the lid of the cell can be pushed off from the cylinder which forms the can of the cell only in response to a predetermined internal pressure. High internal pressures which are lower than the bursting pressure for the cell, generated by the excessive release of gases or vapors, are permitted to escape through vent holes, if necessary, which become exposed in increasing number after being uncovered during separation of the lid from the cup.

Explosion-proof, hermetically sealed galvanic cell

The positive electrode consisting of the chalcogenide of an at least bi-valent metal is connected to the positive current take-off solely through an electrically conductive connector having an exceptionally small contact area with the higher valent metal.

Galvanic element with negative light metal or zinc electrode

Perforted plastic half shells enclose series of components, each including a conductive foil, a take-off conductor, the positive pressed carbon electrode, and separator. Between these components there is the negative zinc plate electrode, which is framed in plastic. The half shells have electrolyte access passages and connector lead-throughs.

Air/zinc flat cell

The negative zinc electrode of a primary element with alkaline electrolyte and hydrophobic air electrode has a compressible expansion body positioned within the negative electrode.

Galvanic primary element with air electrode

In a galvanic cell with negative zinc electrode and positive electrode of AgO, the AgO is surface-reduced to Ag.sub.2 O, and insulated from the current takeoff, to which connection is made only by a porous silver layer.

Galvanic cell

An assembly of fuel cells, enclosed in a container, is immersed in a tank holding the electrolyte. Operating gas is used to produce electrolyte circulation through the cells.
