A multilayer component is disclosed. In an embodiment, a multilayer component includes a fully active stack comprising a plurality of dielectric layers, internal electrodes and two external electrodes arranged on opposite sides of the stack, wherein at least one portion of the internal electrode layers are coated.

A method for producing a multilayer component () is specified, which involves providing a body having dielectric layers () arranged one above another and first and second electrically conductive layers () arranged therebetween. The first conductive layers () are connected to a first auxiliary electrode () and the second conductive layers () are connected to a second auxiliary electrode (). The body () is introduced into a medium and a voltage is applied between the first and second auxiliary electrodes () for producing a material removal. Furthermore, a multilayer component is specified, which has depressions () formed by an electrochemically controlled material removal.

The method further includes structuring the electrically conductive material via the photosensitive material such that the internal electrode layers alternatingly are covered and uncovered by the electrically conductive material and applying an insulating material after structuring the electrically conductive material such that the internal electrode layers are alternatingly covered by the electrically conductive material and by the insulating material.
