A shutter for use as an objective for improving the depth of focus in a camera is disclosed. The shutter has, in a central area, a radially uniform transmission function averaged over the circumferential angle. The radial transmission function first drops off toward zero in a radial transition area which is a continuation of the central area and which has a quantity n of cutouts which extend toward the radial outside and are spaced apart from one another at equal angles 360&deg;/n in the circumferential direction. The quantity n of cutouts has the value 5, 6 or 7.

A veterinary syringe with a dosing device for administering medications in different preselectable amounts, comprises a piston rod which projects into a syringe cylinder by a piston provided at a first end of the piston rod and which is supported at a handle at its other end by an actuating lever which is fastened to the other end so as to be swivelable. The piston rod is supported so as to be displaceable longitudinally in a holder which is rigidly connected with the handle. A dosing device is provided between the holder on one side and the piston rod on the other side. At least two longitudinal grooves are arranged parallel to one another and which have different lengths compared with one another are distributed along the outer circumference of the piston rod. An engagement member is provided which is arranged so as to be rotatable about the piston rod and can be moved into one of the grooves.

The inner diameter formed by the projection of the valve space is smaller than an outer diameter formed by the projections of the valve body.

A device for the implementation of pellets containing medication in animals comprises a housing in the shape of a pistol with a handle, a hollow needle for injecting the body of the animal arranged at the front side of the housing and a push rod adapted to being slid into the hollow needle and supported by the housing so as to be longitudinally displaceable. A shaft is also provided in the housing before the hollow needle for a magazine holding pellets which is displaceable therein. A longitudinally displaceable press-back device is arranged in the housing parallel to the push rod and hollow needle. A drawing mechanism is included in the housing for moving the push rod and press-back device. The mechanism is able to be set in motion by an operating lever fastened at the handle via a toothed segment coupled with the operating lever and via a toothed wheel engaging with the operating lever. The driving mechanism has a continuous toothed belt which is guided along a predetermined region of its length parallel to the push rod between two deflecting rollers and via a toothed belt pulley. The pulley is connected coaxially with the toothed wheel. The continuous toothed belt has a clamping part in the region extending parallel to the push rod. The clamping part is fastened to an end of the push rod located opposite the end of the push rod associated with the hollow needle.

The invention relates to a sapphire protective covering for the distal end of endoscopes, which distal end is outfitted with an optical system and glass fibers serving to illuminate the viewing field. The sapphire protective covering substantially contains an optical tube holding the optical lens mounting, an inner tube receiving the optical tube and an outer tube enclosing the optical tube and inner tube as well as the glass fibers. The sapphire protective covering is constructed in two parts, a first part covering the optical system and a second part covering at least the light exit area of the glass fibers, and both parts are separated from one another optically at their contacting surfaces. The second part is constructed as a planar disk of determined thickness with a recess corresponding to the dimensioning of the first part. The first part can be constructed as a negative lens.
