A method for producing an ultra-thin strip of less than 0.8 mm from cast steel in batch/continuous operation with a casting-rolling system. The method includes casting a thin slab having a casting thickness of 90-150 mm and width of at least 1000 mm at a casting speed of 7 m/min. The thin slab is heated/homogenized to a first temperature in a continuous furnace and subsequently rolled by at least seven final roll stands into an ultra-thin band. Neither the thin slab nor strip undergo inductive heating during production. The thin slab rolling steps include rough rolling the thin slab at the heated/homogenized first temperature by a roughing stand; heating/homogenizing the rough-rolled thin slab to a second temperature by a further continuous furnace; and finally rolling the rough-rolled thin slab at the second temperature to the ultra-thin strip by the final roll stands arranged downstream of the further continuous furnace.

Casting-rolling system for batch and continuous operation

A method for producing a metal strip () by casting and rolling, wherein first a slab () is cast in a caster () by dispensing metal from a mold (), wherein the slab () is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction in the region of a strand guide (), wherein the slab () is then tempered in a furnace (), wherein the slab () is rolled in a rolling train () after the furnace () and wherein the slab () is processed either in discontinuous batch operation or in continuous or semi-continuous operation in dependence on a specified manner of operation. A method for the detection and classification of surface defects on continuously cast products using topographical information about the appearance of continuously cast surface defects and/or flaws are determined with respect to their exact position, evaluated with respect to their location and dimensions, and eliminated in accordance with the evaluation prior to further machining of the product, or are prevented by optimizing the process. Method and device for manufacturing a metal strip by means of continuous casting and rolling

Disclosed are a method and an installation for producing steel products () having an optimum surface quality, especially extremely low carbon contents (UCL steel or IF steel), nitrogen contents, total oxygen contents, high-strength or stainless steel qualities. According to the invention, the liquid steel is cast into a thin slab () from a process route (, or) that is selected according to the desired final structure () based on an electric-arc furnace (), is descaled, cut into billets () having a partial length, optionally descaled once again, subjected to final descaling downstream from a holding furnace (), milled in a finishing mill train (), rolled up in a rolling station () located downstream from the last finishing mill stand () or downstream from a cooling section (), and the final structure () is adjusted in the cooling section () according to the desired steel quality by cooling on a run-out roller table (), whereupon the rolling stock () is completely rolled up in a second rolling station ().

Method and installation for the production of steel products having an optimum surface quality

A hot rolling installation should be constructed and able to be operated so that strips of materials, which can be shaped with different levels of difficulty and have a thickness of less than 1 mm, can be rolled. According to the invention, strip speeds of 15 m/sec should not be exceeded at the outlet of the last roll stand regardless of the material being used, and the hot-rolled strip should have austenitic structures. To this end, the invention provides that thin slab thicknesses of approximately 50 mm are used for easily shapeable material, that the first of seven stands is driven or executes only a smoothing pass, the slab is de-scaled in front of and behind the first stand, and that the second to seventh stand effects the reduction in thickness to less than 1 mm.

Hot rolling installation

A hot-rolling mill for flat products with at least two continuous casting units, wherein the continuous casting units are followed by a shear each and a tunnel furnace with transfer car each, a common breaking-down train, a finishing train, a cooling stretch and at least one reeling device. A connecting device is arranged between the tunnel furnaces and the breaking-down train for connecting the continuously cast slabs which have been cut into the desired coil weights.

Hot-rolling mill

A rotor winder and a method for operating the rotor winder, wherein the rotor winder has two rotors supported in a rotatable rotor with two winders which are driven independently from one another and are provided for successive continuous winding of hot strip. Each winder has a winder mandrel including several moveable segments for expanding the winder mandrel, wherein the segments are supported on axially moveable wedge-shaped gliding surfaces. The winders are moveable in cycles from an initial position into the coil transfer position by rotation of the rotor. A device is provided for guiding an incoming hot strip onto the winder mandrel of the winder positioned in the initial position and for holding the strip on the winder mandrel until a slip-free engagement of the strip is effected. The device for guiding and placing the incoming strip is arranged on a power-driven frame mounted so as to be moveable in a direction extending parallel to the axis of the winder.

Rotor winder

A method of and apparatus for manufacturing hot-rolled steel strips from a continuously cast primary material, preferably thin slabs, in a plurality of successive steps in a continuous operation is disclosed. In the invention, thin slabs, which leave an equalizing furnace, are heated above the maximum temperature that can be achieved in the equalizing furnace and are thereafter are broken down in a break-down train, with the broken-down thin slabs being subsequently recrystallized and cooled down to a rolling temperature before being finish-rolled in the finishing train.

A hot rolling train with a walking beam furnace, a reversing stand following the walking beam furnace and possibly shears and/or descaling devices, as well as a subsequent hot strip finish-rolling train for manufacturing thin, austenitically rolled hot strip is retrofitted with an equalizing furnace provided between the reversing stand and the hot strip finish-rolling train, wherein the equalizing furnace has a number of receiving locations for strips to be heated for equalizing the strip in order to ensure a total heating time for each preliminary strip which is a multiple of the rolling time and the hot strip finish-rolling train.

Hot rolling train for rolling thin strips

A descaling device for slabs or strips in hot rolling mills includes nozzles fed by a pressurized water piston pump for directing water jets against the slab or strip for removing scale adhering to the surface of the slab or strip. At least one additional pressurized water piston pump is provided, wherein the piston pumps are connected in parallel and the pumps can be switched on and off separately. A second row of nozzles may be arranged in front of the nozzles at a distance which ensures that the water jets do not influence each other. The water pressure of the water supplied to the second row of nozzles is preferably lower than the water pressure supplied to the first row of nozzles.
