A method of kinematic ranging for finding the range R of a jammer moving on a trajectory involves measuring the bearing of the jammer and the rate of change thereof using an airborne detector radar at a first position (), causing the airborne detector radar to carry out a manoeuvre such that is it displaced in the horizontal plane by a displacement having orthogonal components &#x394;x, &#x394;y, and measuring the bearing of the jammer at a second position subsequent to the manoeuvre. By making an appropriate choice for the components &#x394;x, &#x394;y, the range R may be found with a desired relative range accuracy, and the error in R may be minimized.

Method of kinematic ranging

A radar method of classifying generating or identifying helicopters, by generating a one-dimensional distance profile of the helicopter to be classified or to be identified by measuring the radar each of the helicopter fuselage, the radar echo of the rotor head of the main rotor and/or the radar echo of the main axis, and the radar echo of the rear rotor axis; determines the aspect angles in the azimuth and elevation directions relative to the axis of the radar antenna and the method also determines helicopter parameters from the measured radar echoes. The determined helicopter parameters are compared with stored helicopter parameters for different helicopter types.

In a method of suppressing jammer signals in the received signal of radar antennas of HPRF applications (such as pulse Doppler radar systems) by means of Fast Fourier Transformation and side lobe cancellation, the receiving radar antenna has a sum channel, a difference channel and an auxiliary channel. The received signal is first transformed in the sum, difference and auxiliary channels from the time domain into the frequency domain using a Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT). Subsequently, the the jammer signal, particularly the side lobe jammer, is suppressed in the frequency domain by means of side lobe cancellation.

Method for HPRF-radar measurement

The invention particularly relates to the detection of fast-flying targets by means of an HPRF radar system that operates with a plurality of switchable pulse-repetition frequencies (PRFs). In the method, a high velocity resolution is attained, which permits a reliable detection of a multiple-target situation. At the same time, a precise range determination is attained with a high range resolution by means of a pure transit-time measurement of the pulses. The length of the used range gates is selected to correspond to the anticipated target length.

Method for detecting a target by means of a high pulse repetition frequency radar system

The present invention relates to a pulse Doppler radar wherein the phase position of the reflected signals is evaluated as the most important component in addition to the amplitude. Thus a very good resolution results in the range direction and in the velocity direction for the detection of multiple target situations. The invention can be employed particularly for a so-called HPRF radar.
