A magnetic tape cassette apparatus which has a magnetic head switchable between two groups of channels, respectively for forward and reverse play. Music searching, which detects pauses of at least a minimum duration in a group of recording tracks, is operable during fast forward or fast reverse along the track previously selected. In the fast winding mode the switching member for channel group selection is held in the position it occupied prior to actuation of fast winding.

A magnetic tape cassette apparatus for reversible playing of magnetic tape cassettes with two tape spools and spool hubs, whereby one of the tape spools is rotatable in the playback or fast winding mode at any given moment. For the fast winding function, a transmission device is adjusted by insertable pushbutton rods for fast forward or fast rewind, respectively, so that the rotary movement of a drive gear for the fast forward direction can be transmitted to the one spool hub and for the fast rewind direction to the other spool hub. A selection plate is active between the pushbutton rods and the switching device and is brought into a position corresponding to the next previous tape direction, which position determines the assignment of the pushbutton rods. The selection plate derives its position responsible for the correct control of the pushbutton rods from an adjustment member which determines the playing direction by means of a position change. The pushbutton rods each cause the tape to fast wind in the same respective absolute direction irrespective of whether the apparatus was previously in the forward or reverse play mode.

A tape guiding structure for a magnetic tape apparatus has two pairs of tape guide elements, each having upper and lower tape edge guiding limbs. The tape guide elements and a positioning holder for the magnetic head are formed as an integral injection-molded part. The elements of a first of the pairs are arranged to each side of the head respectively, adjacent the head, while those of the second pair are arranged further outward from the head, one to each side. The spaces between the guide limbs of each of the tape-guide elements have a dimension equal to the maximum width of the magnetic tape. The positions of the guide limbs of the first pair and of the second pair are arranged such that a magnetic tape having a minimum tape width has one edge in contact with a corresponding limb of each of the first pair, and the other edge in contact with the other corresponding limb of each of the second pair.

A reversible tape cassette drive includes a support plate which is displaceable with respect to the magnetic tape and is also pivotable about a pivot axis. The invention relates to a magnetic-tape-cassette apparatus comprising a deck for magnetic-tape cassettes and constructed for playing and fast winding modes in forward and reverse directions, in which the switching between the forward and reverse tape transport directions is accomplished by means of a switching lever. The switching lever controls pressure rollers mounted on a pivotal bracket which serves to pivot the pressure rollers into and out of engagement with the capstans. The pressure roller bracket includes a fork which is actuated by the movement of the switching lever. The switching lever also carries an intermediate wheel rotatably mounted thereon and a pivoting wheel pivotally mounted on the switching lever which is in engagement with the intermediate wheel. The pivoting wheel is engagement with one of the reel discs when the switching lever is in the forward direction and the other of the reel discs when the switching lever is in the reverse direction. Thus, the switching lever provides both rotation to the reel discs and movement of the pressure rollers into and out of engagement with the capstans.
