A panoramic viewing apparatus has an imaging system that is arranged in a housing provided with a rotary drive. The imaging system has a lens system by means of which the images of the objects are imaged on a detector after passing through the lens system. There is provided in the beam path for the purpose of compensating the image motion caused by the rotation a counter-motion device that produces during the imaging time a motion directed at least approximately synchronously against the rotation produced by the rotary drive. The counter-motion device is arranged in a convergent beam path of the lens system.

Panoramic viewing device

In order to eliminate the influence of temperature on the focus of an IR optical imaging system, radiation from an auxiliary heat source is deflected through the IR optical imaging system such that said radiation impinges on an autocollimating reflector from where it is reflected back into said IR optical imaging system and then impinges on detector elements which are arranged in a detector image plane. Electrical signals generated by the affected detectors are analyzed, digitized, and then compared in a computer whose output signals control a motor for adjusting the axial position of at least one of the optical lens elements of the IR system such that the autocollimating condition between the auxiliary heat source and its image in the detector plane is maintained at all times.

Temperature compensated infrared optical imaging system

The invention is directed to an IR-pancratic optical device which includes a drive for displacing optical members thereof. The drive permits the focal length range to be passed through in 0.5 second. The drive includes a rotatably mounted drum on which a steel band is attached. Redirecting roller guides are provided to enable the rotational movement to be translated into a linear movement. The IR-pancratic optical device includes forward and rearward optical members and two intermediate optical members are arranged therebetween. One of the intermediate optical members is attached to the band and is moved along the optical axis. A cam control couples the movement of the second intermediate optical member to the movement of the first intermediate optical member.

IR-pancratic optical device

A compact stereoscopic thermographic IR viewing device is disclosed, which comprises a thermographic apparatus in front of which two binocular telescopes are arranged. One of the two telescopes images an IR scene in two intermediate images which differ slightly in perspective. These images are separated by stops on the detector of the thermographic apparatus so that an observer notes the scene in perspective through a second binocular telescope.

Stereoscopic thermographic apparatus

A mirror is mounted in front of the image screen of thermographic apparatus, for swinging movement from an out-of-the-way or ineffective position, to an effective operating position, lying across and perpendicular to the optical axis of the thermographic apparatus. In this operating position, the image on the image screen is reflected back to the image screen. Observation of the reflected back image on the image screen enables the observer to determine whether the thermographic apparatus is or is not functioning properly.

Function testing device for thermographic apparatus

A panoramic periscope with a daylight viewing optical system and a heat-picture optical system, and a mirror behind the front entrance window of the periscope, the mirror being movable both in elevation and in azimuth. Moreover, in each optical system there are alternative components selectively usable, and preferably mounted on a turret, which enable either system to operate at two different magnification scales.
