A detergent or cleaner shaped body having a viscoelastic phase. The viscoelastic phase contains, based on its weight, 40 to 85% by weight of one or more alkylbenzenesulfonates and has a storage modulus of between 40,000 and 800,000 Pa.

Low-concentration, highly viscous liquid detergents which maintain their degree of viscosity in storage in a range of climatic conditions, do not undergo any phase separation or agglomerate separation, and maintain their color under the influence of light. Liquid detergents with the desired properties contain 0.2 to 5 wt. % of a polyurethane or modified polyacrylate, 0.5 to 7 wt. % of a boron compound and 1 to 8 wt. % of a complexer.

Low-concentration highly viscous liquid detergents

High-viscosity liquid detergents which, as a result of using a thickening system, are storage- and viscosity-stable under very diverse climatic conditions, do not undergo phase separation, and have color stability when exposed to light.

Stable high viscosity liquid detergents

A pourable, storage-stable manual dishwashing detergent is provided. The detergent contains at least 45 percent sodium bicarbonate with a mean particle diameter of at least 150 micrometers. The sodium bicarbonate is combined with an anionic surfactant, an alkyl polyglycoside surfactant, a zwitterionic surfactant an electrolyte and optionally a solvent, to form the detergent. The detergent of the invention has good pouring properties and excellent cleaning performance against dried-on and burnt-on soil.

An apparatus for the continuous production of clear sodium silicate solution with an SiO.sub.2 :Na.sub.2 O weight ratio of 1-2.8:1 by fusing sand in aqueous sodium hydroxide using a pressure-sealed circulating suspension reactor having an upper portion comprising a partially tapered gravity thickener and a lower portion comprising a cylindrical jet loop mixer. The jet loop mixer has a concentric cylindrical insertion tube suspended therein, and a recirculating power jet nozzle is upwardly directed through the bottom of the jet loop mixer so that its stream is directed into the lower end of the insertion tube, causing a continuous circulation flow.
